This is what I've done to surrender things outside of my control to him, which were only eating me up because I couldn't do anything about it.

I imagined the Lord's hands just like this in my mind's eye:

I then imagined what was causing me to worry beside his hand and I imagined those things, one by one, going up and being placed in his hands by my invisible hand. Last of all I imagined myself as a little man climbing up into his hands.

1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

When you open your hands, you hold things loosely. Rather than grasping, you recognize that you don’t own them. A butterfly might land on an open hand. If you close your hand, you’ll crush it. The same is true with the people. When we love them with an open hand, we recognize that they do not belong to us. Even our children. We share life with them, yes, but we don’t own them. We are willing to let them fly and come back. An open-hand relationship is life-giving.

I like this. Thank you!

In my darkest hours I always see myself in this deep dark pit/hole.

And Jesus is holding his hands out as I reach for them to lift me out.
