Moral of the story:

Being smart & skeptical doesn't make you a winner if you don't have a better plan. It only makes you a bitter whiner who screams 'I told you so" to gullible idiots.

Being gullible & stupid ensures you live in hope till the day you die. Your hopes may never come true but at least you don't spend your lifetime being a bitter and an angry paranoid person.

Being practical & ignoring politics is the best way to live life. You live neither in bitterness nor in hope but deal with life as it is and try to enjoy it as much as you can.
