If someone won a huge jackpot but their state doesn’t allow anonymous winners, they might sell the ticket. But who can afford to buy a ticket worth hundreds of millions or even a billion dollars? Only hedge funds.

The winning ticket last night for $1 Billion has a cash option of about $740 Million. The winner can either come forward, collect the $740 Million and have their name all over the news and their life ruined by the publicity. Don’t you think such a person would be willing to sell that ticket for say $650 Million? I sure as hell would. And some hedge fund can make a 13-14% guaranteed return in the span of maybe two weeks.
