meteorite ? Fake ? Calling Astro /// Resolved
I ran into a thread in a well known video game forum, its about 'a meteorite'?

"US scientists found meteorite expected to collide with Earth within 3 weeks

The meteorite fragments are embedded in the asteroid "67P", according to a study. Their arrival on Earth is expected to occur during a space rock collision within the next three weeks.

Space rock fragments, which are 3.4 to 5.2 billion years old, are expected to collide with Earth within the next three weeks, according to a study from the University of Arizona.

In January 2018, the panoramic telescope and the rapid response system (Pan-STARRS-1) detected a meteorite fragment

""

So I would have liked to know if its could be true,
but there is nothing specific
no object size
no time
no impact region
no source link
when I search "67P" I fall on the comet ...

here is the original thread : [link to www.jeuxvideo.com (secure)]

sorry , my english is light

But scientists calculate that in 1840, a fairly close encounter with Jupiter must have sent the comet flying deeper into the inner solar system, down to about 3.0 AU (about 280 million miles or 450 million kilometers) from the Sun. Churyumov-Gerasimenko's perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) drifted a bit closer to the Sun over the next century, and then Jupiter gave the comet another gravitational kick in 1959. Since then, the comet's perihelion has stood at about 1.3 AU, which is about 27 million miles (43 million kilometers) outside Earth's orbit.

It is bullshit. You can not calculate if a body hits earth that early on because of what is called "three body problem". It is impossible to calculate the trajectory of these objects exactly. Where such a thing would impact earth is known maybe 3 weeks before it hits earth. Impossible to know before, because so many factors are part of the calculation: The direction and speed it spins, what it is actually made of and factors like other objects it came close to.

Re: meteorite ? Fake ? Calling Astro /// Resolved
Could be fake, as 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko is a comet.
A periodic one, which means it comes close every 6,45 years.

ESA had a program called Rosetta and back in 2014, they managed to land Rosetta's lander, called Philae, which sent us photos and gave us more information on this comet.

I guess 67P will approach again this year, this is why we see such rumors.

But we like this kind of doom here. So we will probably save the planet for one more time, because of the GLP effect!
