The Cicadas have waited underground for 17 years...

They're great weather forecasters.
If you hear them early in the morning, you know its gonna be a hot ass day.

You are correct, it's only been 10.So this round isn't the big 1. It will be 2027 or 2028.

They come out every year here and attract copperheads that come out at night to eat them. Last year the cicadas were so loud that I could hear them while inside my house.

The cycle is 17 years but every year the cicadas that were developing for seventeen years are what you hear. It's kind of like a trick question.

I'm with you. I swear it's every year that it's the magic 17th year, errr 10th year... or maybe it's 7 years?

there are multiple 17 and 13 year broods, i think total about 10-15 broods among the various cycles.

the reason why i was trying to find if a certain brood signaled certain doom, the one in 2024 i was a bit nervous about couldnt find anything too obvious

Mass emergence with larger prime numbers seems to stay out of sync with other life that adapts to patterns within shorter lifespans, keeping the Cicada above the fray.

You kiddin tight? There are different ones. These only come out every 17 years, and its millions of then in the Carolinas.

There are different species that come out in different intervals. If you lived down south in the wooded ares you wouldnt be saying BS. The fishing goes apeshit when these things come out. Everything gorges on them.
