Consider this when you see National Guard. Almost all of them have a civilian job that they are on leave from. Might be your mechanic, a hospital nurse, construction worker, etc. while on duty they are making a fraction of their civilian pay. They all have family that relies on them and whom they are missing right now. A toddler taking her first step, a faucet leak that now requires a plumber since dad isn’t there to fix it, a wedding date that now has to be postponed. Why?
