100 mph Windstorm destroys Yosemite houses, Giant Sequoias!
Winds over 100 mph toppled Ponderosa pines, healthy trees, Giant Sequoias, damage reports are incredible!

Residents say this is the largest wind event they can recall since the 70's

Some took shelter in their cars as their houses were destroyed during windstorm.

"Mono winds" occur as winds rush over and down mountain slopes.

Still 1000's without power and declaration of national disaster has not yet been made.

Why hasn't this story been more publicized?

“I don’t see power lines in town that are untouched,” Stevenson said. “Most are totally down. There are transformers all over the roads and wires everywhere, power poles snapped in half. Basically they have to redo all of Wawona’s power.”

I know we have glper's around this area...Bass lake & Yosemite. Yosemite was still closed or partially closed according to article.

"Yosemite National Park remains closed as a result of the wind damage. Much of it was reported in Mariposa and Madera counties. Wawona, and Bass Lake farther south, were among communities hardest hit."

bump to check on status of our folks in the area, we need to hear they are OK when able! altho power grid is a mess and they have had snow since. Isn't there some wacky jet stream business hitting Cali this week too?

Hope they don't get more of this.

Sounds like from the article they were prepated to get hit again but it didn't materialize.

the reason so many trees are falling is due to chemtrails. all trees, have roots some as large as tree limbs. look at the roots of those trees, all are very small. the roots of trees are retreating back up, due to soil poison free failout. look at any felled tree, there are no huge limbs in root systems

Spokane had a "historic" wind event a week before this one:

"The windstorm that hit the Spokane area on Wednesday has a lot in common with the historic storm of 2015.

Both Jan. 13, 2021 and Nov. 17, 2015 recorded a non-thunderstorm wind gust of 71 mph at Spokane International Airport. That is a tie for the strongest non-thunderstorm wind gust ever recorded at the airport. Both storms also left two people dead."

seems that every State has their own "natural disasters" ...

but it seems like calling for a "emergency" for the entire state, when one area is affected is over the top ...opportunistic

hundreds of trees down... and a dozen houses smashed in a small area of California should not equal a government bail- out ... this is a very affluent area, all these house are heavily insure because this has happened before ... and they were well aware that it could happen again ... and again, and built their anyway

The last time they had a wind storm of this magnitude was 1976...? Destruction does not occur with any frequency in this area, and the counties affected...i believe there are two mainly that have utter devastation to their electrical infrastructure, are the ones that may require assistance. Mariposa is the only county considering asking for federal aid as of this article.

So this sort of thing happens periodically, happened in the 70's. Can people go in and cut themselves some redwood from the downed trees?
