I'm a student of history. At every moment things seem irreversible, good eventually wins out. The plague, Great Depression, Stalin, Hitler. Living in those times one would feel as we do now. However, this moment in time is different. Technology has altered our basic ideas about ourselves in ways yet to be understood. There is history of famine, mass murder, and brutal dictators.
