Re: How Many Are Close To A Breaking Point?
Hang in there people our lives got uncomfortable we have to make decisions, we have to do things we don't really want to do, we must find a way to survive the plot they created to destroy Trump and the country. We are tough We do not quite, for every down turn there is a new direction a new answer perhaps even better options.

You summarized what most of us are experiencing, I’d say.

...Keep the faith, brother.
 Quoting: REaliZe

Problem is faith can only 'sustain' you for about 40 days max. I'm NOT about to go crazy, but I'm also not going to watch my family go homeless and starve.
 Quoting: Zedakah

So here's the thing, let's say you make it out of this particular situation and you and your family turn out ok...

What will you do to prepare for this kind of thing in the future, because that's what you should have already been doing and what you should be doing right now.

So figure that out and start doing it, NOW. Tomorrow will be here before you know it, and you damn sure better try and be ready for it.

Of course, now that my wife is unemployed, I might have to give her some chemistry lessons, since she will have plenty of free time to set up jobs from home.

If it all falls through, it isn't the end of all things, just a few things. The wife will get employed again eventually. Maybe something that sucks for a while. Maybe unemployment insurance for a while. Maybe you lose the house and rent a room or basement or apartment above a garage for a while.
Maybe some days and nights it sucks because none of this is the normal you knew and how in the world did you go from there to here.
I know because I've been there. Definately don't just give up and try your best not to do something irrational that ruins any future prospects or potential. You can get through it, you really can, the thing that sucks is that to get through it... you have to go through it.

Re: How Many Are Close To A Breaking Point?
There's a story told about how a man got a good job. So he made more money. He thought he could afford all the debt he could get. So he bought a big house and expensive car and all the latest gadgets. Then the inevitable slowdown happens and he can't make his bills and ends up homeless.

While his neighbor did not accumulate debt. He drove a cheaper, older car and bought himself a smaller, cheaper house. He saved his extra income in a jar under the bed.

Then the slowdown hit. His job cut hours and pay. He didn't lose his home because it was paid for. Car too. His savings helped him get through the slowdown and it wasn't long before times became good again. He he went on with his life happy.

You seem to be the first guy. I have always talked trash about those whose debt goes up with his income. It's not too hard to live within your means. People should try it. When I used to smoke cigs I would buy the cheap pipe tobacco and roll my own. I bought my house in a mixed neighborhood so my house was reasonably priced. I'm 52 years old and in less than $20,000 in debt. My son in law makes good money. So he bought a $200,000 house, new cars and a camper. They won't listen to me. No one does. I pray the economy keeps him up, but I don't think it will.

Be smart with your money and these things won't happen to you.

Re: How Many Are Close To A Breaking Point?
I'm posting this because I know I am becoming ever closer to reaching my own breaking point. My wife just lost her job today, which means our refinance falls through, which means we won't get $400 a month lower payments, which means we can't afford our current payment.

I'm not making this thread for sympathy, because glp is certainly not the place for that.

I'm making this thread because if it's happening to me and my household, then I guarantee it is happening to many households nationwide, and also I do need to vent a little. More and more people are falling to the ranks of the unemployed every day thanks to Covid combined with Biden policies. The situation is not going to recover anytime soon. Covid restrictions are becoming more strict, and Biden policies are irrational and insane (just like Biden!).

If it's happening nationwide, then not everyone is intelligent/logical enough to peacefully deal with adapting to a new situation and make life changes. If this is the case, then we very well may reach a tipping point or breaking point where people are willing to do anything to provide for their family (especially things that were previously off-limits in a civil society).

If there is one thing that 2020 taught us, it is that liars, cheaters, and thieves win. And if that is the lesson other people who lose their incomes see, then there will be an increase in liars, cheaters, and thieves among the populace and a potential breakdown of civil society.

Disclaimer: I am not advocating violence nor is violence my mode of operandi in a breaking point. I am just making an observation of cause/effect relationships in society.
 Quoting: Zedakah

The elites have really broken you people. You thought you were normal. You thought you were protected. You thought you lived in a "free" country.

But if you only read the sentences that I made bold you will realize WHY things are this way, and why the assholes win.

It's because GOOD people don't give a shit. They proved that with covid. Sorry OP, I don't give a shit about your situation just like you and the rest of the community didn't give a shit when I was almost homeless.

Now I"m the one sitting pretty not giving a DAMN.

Enjoy the SHOW.

My trust in Christ helps me through all issues but,

I've seen many others who are growing despondent and

impatient with what is happening.

I always tell them the same things, but they are not

pacified by this anymore.

Even some on here talk a lot of crap. But literally, we

have to wait to see how this will continue.

You can't get blood from a stone, so whatever they

are planning, we'll see more as time goes along.

We'll know in time what can be done...
Living has taught me one thing; nothing is certain...except salvation through Jesus Christ!

Do you currently have a gov backed mortgage? If you do, I wonder if you can still go into a forbearance for a year?
 Quoting: Max Powers

Yes, I actually have a USDA loan.

I will look into this. Thank you.
 Quoting: Zedakah

Aside from just USDA, check out SBA as well. Aside from PPP look into the EIDL program. Loans at 3.75%, 30-year term with one year deferment. You can get a loan as a sole proprietor or even independent contractor as well. If you have any kind of hobby or biz on the side, you can apply for it and get some $. Even if it's not for you I'd look into it all the same.

That's why this situation is so infuriating to me. I had enough saved up for 6 months of no income before last year. We had to dip into about half that during 2020 due to Covid. We learned we had to spend less (cheaper food, colder nights, etc...)

So now this refinancing was a way for us to save a LOT more per month while simultaneously making lifestyle adjustments to spend less. I have only been a homeowner for two years, so it's not like I have been sitting on a mortgage for decades without saving. It was just a 'perfect storm' of events to have it all come crashing down when I was so very close to closing on a new loan.

I am truly sorry for your situation man. It is tough out there these days and going to get tougher. I would downsize at this point in life if I were you. There are programs that can help you with your mortgage, look into them. If you can’t get help, put the house on the market and sell for a value you can live with. It sucks, but such is life in this world today. Nearly everyone is going to be where you are now at some point in the near future.

Get out and get a very small place rented or bought and try to survive. Turn to Jesus and lay your life at His feet, he will help you through. Try to find work for your wife and just make it through. Know that you are not alone in this.

No hard feelings here.

It doesn't bother me at all you don't give a shit, like I said I don't care about sympathy at all.

But I will argue that it's not because 'good people' don't give a shit. It's that most have their focus so narrowly on their own family, jobs, finances, that it's really hard to 'look up' or 'zoom out' at how others are doing until the same thing happens to them.

BINGO!

So many people are looking for the easy (if not fraudulent) way out of life. They see their overlords getting away with it so they figure they should do the same. Who can blame them?

This is why leadership needs to be transparent and benevolent..or eventually you get a populace that will mimic leaderships behavior. And sooner or later, they will come after them in droves chopping off heads on route.

Re: How Many Are Close To A Breaking Point?
I am lucky to make 500 a week. My car isnt registered because I cant afford the property tax (my state is stupid). I have no savings and I barely have 100 left every week to buy enough gas and food to keep going.

Not going to lie, its not going to get better. Its going to get worse.

Re: How Many Are Close To A Breaking Point?
Sorry to hear, man. I've interacted with you a couple times and you seem like a solid and smart guy.

I'm pretty sure you already understand this, based on previous conversations, but I'm not sure if you buy into it quite as much as I do.

I think there is another option for us. And I mention it a lot here. Basically withdraw from main society and the system and do not comply. This means you may need to give up many of the perks that come with society, but you also get rid of the tradeoff of being a slave in this system, and the elites are taking society to a very dark place very fast.

I think we can survive on the outskirts. It has been done many times by many groups throughout history. I know this one feels different, as it is the whole world and there is no place to escape to, and they have technology with drones, 5G, AI and more surveillance, but I still think it is possible.

Even if they are successful in moving us to the one world government slave system, which I think is maybe 50/50 (look how fast they are rushing, it seems like panic to get it in before they lose their shot, but I could be wrong), even if they are able, that system will collapse. It may take 20 years, and it could take up to 1,000 years, but it will collapse. If we can survive on the outskirts until then, we can live as God intended outside of their system.

If they come for us, we must defend, but I think there is a decent chance that they don't, and they let us be other than excluding us from their system. And remember, even with their tech, taking a rural population by force has never really been done, it is extremely difficult. What they have done historically is trick people and coerce people into the cities. If we stay rural, it would cost them more than it is worth to come after us all.

This is the hard part: you need to let go of material desires, you need to let go of the idea that the normal of the past is ever coming back. It's not. You either play by their rules and participate in their system and get the rewards for being a good slave, or you live free but without the security and convenience that the system provides.

Once you let go of the desire for what we've already lost, there is a peace. Simpler life, a more fulfilling life lives outside of the material world and this evil system.

Try what the other poster mentioned with forbearance first.

If not, try to sell and move into a rural setup that has a little land, like-minded people, etc., and downgrade your lifestyle a bit to save costs. Start learning to farm, to survive without electricity or minimal electricity, and find skills and outputs that you can trade with people still in the system for the things you can't do without (gas, solar, etc.). You do need a community of some kind, though, however small. I don't think the lone wolf thing is practical (though I used to).

Maybe get a travel trailer if you can live that small to stay mobile and be able to adapt or move to safer zones when the time comes.

These are the choices that it looks like we all will have to make in the next 1-4 years. I still hope something can change our course, but 50/50 means we need to expect the worst while working for the best.

Good luck. My prayers are with you, and we will all likely be where you are soon.
