If all you can get is a minimum wage job, you can be a hard worker and still be poor. $8 per hour is about $16K per year, which is barely enough to just squeak by on. And most of these jobs won’t give you 40 hours per week because they don’t want to pay benefits. I agree that minimum should be $15 by now.

One woman bought clothes at garage sales and sold them online or at a flea market on weekends.

Another man who spent all weekends driving residential neighborhoods getting small jobs, digging flower beds, painting a garage.

These people would easily make another couple thousand dollars each month on top of their weekday jobs.

The woman, a single mother of two, put down a healthy down payment and bought a house when she was 27.

She's the same age as my niece who has a master's degree and does nothing but bitch and moan about how expensive her apartment is.
