DUH. Stupid Neighbor Tries To GO TO Work In Blizzard; Angry When Gets Stuck

I live in an apartment complex outside New York City. We're getting a massive nor' easter snow storm since last night and it's supposed to last all day today, with some areas having "blizzard like" conditions.

This neighbor, an Indian woman, previously divorced her husband of 30 years, and now lives here with her 21 year old son.

I go out to have a smoke and see their car is stuck in the complex driveway, which is a slight incline up from the street.

They asked some nearby workers to help them get in.

The workers push the car, but the woman hits the brakes on the way in, and gets stuck again.

Who hits the brakes once a stuck car is finally moving in snow????? I don't get that.

So she then she its the gas, but the wheels spin again. So I tell them, back the car up to the street, get a running start and go right in. The workers tell her, she does it and gets in.

The son comes up to me as if I am to blame for them being stuck.

I ask, why are you even outside in this weather? He says "my mom thought she had to go to work, so she tried and we got stuck. So she called and they told her there's no work today." I said "Nobody is working in this, didn't she call before you went out?

No reply; which, it turns out, means no.

So, stupid people, do a stupid thing - go out in a blizzard'; then get mad when they get stuck and realize they didn't have to go out in the first place.

So the kid says to me, I tried to free the car with just this, shows me a shovel, but, he continues no salt.

I said the salt is in the utility room where it always is.

He said the room is locked.

I responded "The same key that opens every other door in the building (front entrance, lobby-to-garage, etc,) also opens the utility room so people can get to their electric and cable tv"

The kid replies "How was I supposed to know?" I responded "You've lived here all your life, it's beeen this way that whole time. He responded "How was I supposed to know?" So I said, you're supposed to learn about things where you live . . . ask questions, so you learn.

I go inside and the mother is in the lobby. I said to her, you didn't teach your son that the key that opens that door (point to lobby-to-garage door) also opens the utility room? No reply.

I said You've lived here thirty years and you didn't teach your son? She responds, "My husband left and didn't teach anything."

So now I get mad because I know the truth. "I said, your husband didn't leave, you divorced him and threw him out." She yells, That's personal, you can't talk to me that way.

So now I'm on a roll, and say "Wait a minute, you threw YOUR husband out and you didn't know how to live? What's wrong with you?"

Now she's really pissed. Yells, you can't talk to me this way. I replied, Yes, I can. You have a responsibility to take care of yourself but you demand everyone else take care of you and you do nothing. Maybe you should sell the house and move because obviously it's too hard for you to live with normal people."

The son walks back in and tells me "Thanks for locking me out." I asked what do you mean lock you out." He says, you saw I was trying to get in the front door and you didn't open it for me." I said That door is locked on its own every minute of every day, didn't you have your key? No reply. So I ask again, didn't you have a key? (He did)

Turns out, he expected the people inside to open the door for him and when we didn't we "locked him out."

That's the distorted mindset now. No one does anything for himself, it's all supposed to be done FOR them. They do something stupid like go out in a blozzard without calling to even see if there's work today, and somehow its someone ELSE's fault they get stuck.

They demand people do everything for them and if it isn't done for them, then somehow THEY are a victim.

I'm fucking tired of this attitude and the people who have it. I really am.
