Dead wrong again. I don't wanna "drag" anybody anywhere. I will show you the way. The way of real, the way of truth, the way of freedom. You will walk to it by yourself, because if you don't, then you will be the one dragging others. You'll drag all those around you to the same death trap you call religion.

And my neighbors? We run many things down here. About two hours ago, I was there serving meals to homeless people. We just smile, give them their sandwich and juice. No strings attached, they don't have to go through a sermon about anything. We don't hold their meals hostage. After that? Well, we went to a charity event. We played and sung for a few hours and raised a good chunk of money, promptly donated to a children cancer clinic. Last week, me and a few others whom happen to have long hair donated it for crafting wigs for the same clinic. Tomorrow(today actually), I'll be online teaching some english for those who want a better chance on their career. What about you? What are you doing for a better world? Praying?

That's funny! I was a post trib believer until I learned to rightly divide Gods Word as Paul has instructed us to do. Let's start with some scripture here. It will be interesting to see your response.
Why would Jesus say this?

Rev 3.10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.

To discuss scripture, first we have to show evidence that a god exists. Then there are a few more steps until we get to discuss scriptures. So your first job is to show me evidence for god. And no, more bible quotes won't suffice.
 Quoting: MaybeTrollingUAgain

The evidence is all around you.I could go on and on about the balance of nature, the placement of the sun and all the perfect scenarios it takes for life to exist. You would have to explain to me why it hasn't happened anywhere else in the universe that we can find.
I sincerely hope that your not one of those people that believe everything came from nothing for no reason what so ever. Even the scientists tell us the odds of creation and a creator are much much better than that.
Remember.., there are no atheists' in Hell.
 Quoting: Sunday 78658524

Ah! The classic argument from design followed by an argument from ignorance seasoned with an argument from authority. You gotta try harder man.
I asked for evidence and the best you can do is this???

Remember, show evidence. Now evidence of a hell too...
 Quoting: MaybeTrollingUAgain

The real question here is what is your motivation to even participate in this thread?
You're the one that needs to try harder to prove that God doesn't exist. I'll give you a hint here..., you can't.

I know its frustrating seeing a group of atheist doing much more good than your god ever did. Wanna believe it? Fine. Don't want to? Fine too. We deal with a few fanatics around here too trying to stop us from doing it, including poisoning the minds of some of our patreons(people whom donate stuff, like food or clothes) saying that we "work for the devil because we are atheists". No problem, we squeeze a little and pay it from our own pockets.

And BTW, do I feel a slight envy on you? I mean, we are really doing, by our own will to do, what you are commanded to do and you don't. In this way, we are more christian than you are. You've yet to address my comments and answer my questions. This tells me you choose to ignore any logic or reason when it comes to creation.

Could it possibly be you're trying to fill a void by all your good deeds? I think so or you wouldn't be bringing them up. Lots of people that reject Jesus do this and never realize the void they feel is because they have denied the truth.

Like I asked earlier, what is your motivation and point to even participate in this conversation?

nordicspear I don't have to prove anything to you. My burden to you (along with other Christians who contribute to this thread) is the same as it is to the other several thousand people who have viewed this thread. Which is to sound the alarm, give warning and preach the good news of your salvation.

You are responsible for the fate of your own soul to Jesus Christ who created you, that's way above my pay scale.

Eze 33:2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:
Eze 33:3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;
Eze 33:4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
Eze 33:5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

Ok, answering your questions:
Could it possibly be you're trying to fill a void by all your good deeds?
I don't think so. I do it because it is good and right. The only goal is to make the world a better place. Little by little, piece by piece. There is no void, there is nothing to fill. Contrary to what fanatics think, being atheist is more fulfilling, much more. I see a whole world of possibilities and a whole lot of things I can be helpful with. The only "void" I see is the world itself and the people in it.

What is your motivation and point to even participate in this conversation?

When I was a fanatic myself, I didn't felt like doing anything. To me, praying and praising alone was enough and god would do what god wants to do. Till that point, I have never actually read the bible. Only bits and parts, pointed by a minister(I've been in many different branches of christianity). That to me, looked a little suspicious, there were whole books and whole chapters in the bible, never mentioned. So I read it as a whole when I was around 13. The first time, it raised more questions than answers. So I read it once again, systematically, taking notes of the parts that caught my attention, including places, names and numbers. Then I started to compare these places, names and numbers to other historic accounts. They didn't match. I researched a little more, still no match. This was bugging me a lot. Why would the word of god be so different than the actual history? And just to mention, it was much before the internet, so I read actual books for long periods of time and even more time looking for the books that would contain the information I needed to clarify the matter. Biology, chemistry, logic and many more only made more and more clear that what was in the bible(regarding facts and reality) was to the very least, not accurate and in several cases, completely wrong. From that point on, I started studying more and more these subjects: biology, chemistry, logic and along with some history. When I finally could only conclude that christianity was nothing but a very elaborate concoction of logical fallacies, allied with psychological tactics to lure people into it, I stopped believing christianity as whole was actually good or even true. In the beginning it was frightening. What if I was wrong? What if god didn't want me to do it and was only testing me and I was failing? So I reviewed the whole thing. I still have my notebooks and references to it all, preserved in a box. It took me a while, but I was finally sure: If there is a god, there should be evidence for its existence. And to this day, I got none.

What is it you actually hope to accomplish?
If you mean "hope to accomplish" when it comes to me counter acting fanatics. I wish that I could show them what I see: A world where superstition, fear and slavery to a feeble and unsubstantiated belief is actually the only way to make mankind to be better. If you mean something else, please elaborate.

There, questions answered. My turn:
What is your reason to believe that a god exists? Remember, I don't share your faith, so you'll have to explain it arguing outside of it, with actual reality.

Why do you believe that your faith, your god are the actual right ones and not others?
 Quoting: MaybeTrollingUAgain

Thanks and interesting response. However it would seem to reason that with all the people and not to mention the scholars that have picked the Bible apart word by word would have come to some of the same conclusions as you.

No one has ever been able prove that the Bible contradicts itself. The ones that think they have are shown that they have misinterpreted something.

It sounds like to me that you were unfortunate enough to become involved in a legalistic church in which I don't believe is healthy. I believe that excepting Jesus is a very freeing event as I have experienced.

First, freedom in Christ is seen in contrast to the bondage of sin. Romans 6:20-23 says, "For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." In other words, sin enslaves people for spiritual death and eternity apart from God. Knowing Christ provides freedom from the control of sin and eternal life with Him.

Second, freedom in Christ is seen as the only true form of freedom, because it provides lasting freedom beyond this life. John 8:36 notes, "If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." We now know the truth that sets us free as believers (John 8:32).

You ask why I have such strong faith?
In 2000 I was diagnosed with a fatal disease. I was told if I did nothing I would probably live until 2007-08.
I had been a Christian for 15 yrs at that point.
Anyway after a couple of years I was getting worse and decided to try treatment. After a yr of that I was told my illness came back. The docs wanted me to do another round of chemo. It about killed me the first time so I was extremely distraught. I got on my face before the Lord and pleaded with Him to take me home rather than face that again. After a few days of fervent prayer by me and others I was sitting in my office at work when I heard out of the blue "You Are Healed" I'm like wtf?
Then I heard it again, "You Are Healed In My Name".

I promptly thanked Jesus and let it sink in for awhile.
I knew through faith that Lord had granted my request and my next visit to the doc I informed him. He just smiled and told me that that was next to impossible. He drew my blood and told me he would let me know the results. A few days later he called and told me that I no longer showed any signs of being sick. He told me he didn't know why but was sure in a few weeks the test would be positive.

He kept assuring me that this just doesn't go away and that this will resurface in the near future.
The docs still have no idea how this happened 16 yrs later and I'm healthy as a horse. I've researched this out and apparently this same scenario has only been documented 18 times in the whole world. Once you've personally witnessed something like this there is no more second guessing.
I hope you truly consider this because it doesn't get anymore real than that!

Re: The Rapture - Get Ready.
I'd just like to mention Jude, during the siege of Montségur, the last Cathar stronghold, as the Perfecti (holy men and women) were finally disbanded and led into the flames, several from the number of mercenaries, tasked to bring about the downfall of Catharism in the Languedoc once and for all, converted themselves to the faith and willingly went into the fire with their hostages.

I'm sure I was a Cathar in a previous life. I'd be interested to discuss dualism and gnosticism with you as well. This reality is a complete fabrication and good can now only manifest itself as an inversion (I started a thread about this sometime ago).

I want to be your friend. And I'm going blind. I haven't had an eye test in over two years.

blinkerrose Well it sure sounds to me like you had better get one pronto. Opticians are also trained to look for stigmatism (cloudy eyes) and other problems. Often if they are caught early they can either be cured or greatly improved. In the meantime try to avoid LED lights, florescent lights are much better on your eyes. Contact lenses can also cause problems, glasses are the way to go.

Anyway you cant just sit there and do nothing, all the best.

german3 I'm sorry but reincarnation, dualism and Gnosticism, are all false doctrines as well as time wasters. The Rapture can happen at any moment and we have to concentrate on the salvation of souls with the simple gospel message.

Perhaps I was exaggerating slightly when I said I was going blind and I've worn glasses for many years but I'm straining my eyes a lot, so it must be deteriorating further. I will book an eye test soon.

I think we should have been in an episode of Tales of the Unexpected together, Jude. I remember watching this late on a Sunday evening with grandfather. I suppose you were a little girl as well when this on television.

Perhaps we could form a secret alliance?

Re: The Rapture - Get Ready.
There is NO rapture of REAL believers in Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 10:30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

It's the wicked who are removed ("raptured").

flo6awbow Your quote from Proverbs is not about the Rapture. As for the rest it sounds to me like you think that a corkscrew would make a good ruler.

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
 Quoting: Judethz

1 Timothy 2:12-15 King James Version (KJV)

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
