Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80052552 Greg Abbott Says Natural Gas 'Frozen In Pipelines' As Texas Battles Power Outages [link to www.newsweek.com (secure)] Freezing temp of natural gas is -295 Degrees The gas is not pure. It has moisture in it. The moisture froze and the gas can't flow due to it. This is a common problem in wells in cold climes. They have additives that can be put in to keep that from happening. It didn't happen in TX because no one expected it to get this cold in Texas so the additives aren't used in TX. |

They are dependent on the natural gas flowing from the pipeline in Texas. Some years back I lived in NM ...one winter there was NO GAS coming up from TEXAS.. Some of the reservations were completely without gas to heat their homes. Those nights of-this event the temps were minus -10 degrees at my address in Albuquerque. It was dam cold. So I would guess that if the pipelines were frozen then NM should be screaming their heads off for fuel....just saying. |

It's a phenomenon called a “freeze-off” that disrupts gas production across the US every winter. ... The state is a huge natural gas producer — and it doesn't usually have to deal with such cold weather Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77074699 Copied from an article written 2 days ago.
