to comapre. these case #'s in 1 month are 75% of the entire 1st yr totals for each county. some counties are worse than the whole 1st yr. deaths are bout 1/3rd last yrs total in 1 mth. the counties that are lower, are in climb mode.

what we see for current cases for just my county is more than we had for all in the 1st winter.

note the speed of the wave from NYC to rural counties. what was 5 mths , OMI did in bout 1 month. now we were in a delta wave in the fall. this is the 1st wave on top of wave scenario.

if the next wave moves as fast, we all will have to react quicker.

I don’t feel like they are taking the right steps … which In this case, this poor woman should be their big red flag.

At this point, I've gotten cynical enough that I think that even if every headline was screaming this informtion, not many people would care or change their behavior.

I'm constantly getting snide comments about how "paranoid" I'm being, and that Omicron is "mild." (These comments are not from my close friends, but from some of the people I deal with for work, a few of my mom's friends, etc.) Even if I explain that a flu can (and often does) knock me flat for 6 months, and that Covid might well kill me, people still just don't care to understand. Granted, healthy, vaxxed people may come through it in much better shape --- but it's only a matter of time until someone they know, or they themselves, get a serious case.

I'm actually not even all that much of a recluse these days. I've been doing a lot of business stuff in-person, out of necessity. I still get deliveries. I went to my neurologist yesterday, who doesn't even wear a mask. (He's the only person I actually trust to shoot me full of neurotoxin -- medical Botox -- so I still go to him. He's been my neuro for years.)

What I AM doing is avoiding going back to campus and being packed into a lecture hall with hundreds of other people.
I'm avoiding any unnecessary outings, avoiding social gatherings. I'm passing on a concert I would dearly love to see, in March. I don't ever leave the house without a mask ... either KN95, or KF94.

One of my closest friends, also immunocompromised, said he feels so alienated from his graduate school cohort. They're doing classes online, except one that is likely to be in-person. His classmates are meeting up in person socially, though, and he's refusing to participate in that. I told him I fully understand how he feels. I think the world looks very, very different to immuncompetent people than it does to those of us aware of our vulnerabilities.

Let's not even talk about the shit-shape my immune system is currently in, thanks to months of unrelenting stress, and many more months ahead. I know my body, and I know when it has been stressed to the breaking point -- which, it definitely has.

3 coworkers out sick, all have been boosted and another coworker not feeling well after her booster

So 4 out of a team of 7 sick but I know they are doing normal things all the time so no surprise really.

My youngest sister was exposed to covid 2 days ago. She is jabbed I don't think boosted though I'm not sure. But again, doing normal things like group dinners at a restaurant, shopping, going into the office.

Learned of an old time high school friend that ended his life. My extremely close friend was best friends with him so feeling very sad all around.

Just feels like 2022 is getting off to a pretty shitty start.
