"THE
LORD'S"

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13974542

It simply means you are slave minded, OP; being a slave is in your nature and you strongly desire to not just be, but announce that you are the property of another. You take pride in this and wear your masters ownership of you willingly and prominently for all the world to see.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78654371

Correct.

I am a proud slave to Christ!

I know I am not eligible to be part of the 144,000, btw, because I am old, and not a virgin. PLUS, the Lord puts HIS mark on them (whatever that turns out to be) and not the chosen ones themselves.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13974542

I think "being a virgin" simply means having not defiled yourself with a false church. The Bride of Christ is the Church. The Whore of Babylon is the false church. Churches symbolically are women.

I have been doing some interesting reading that the Bible clearly shows that the mark of God is the Sabbath as defined by the Ten Commandments. Look at the only Commandment that starts our with the word "Remember". Then ask yourself why Christians worship and "rest" on the first day of the week.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79759821

Thanks. That's a bit "out there" for my literalist upbringing, but I appreciate the comments.

I've considered all the arguments v.v. the "true Sabbath" and, like I mentioned once before, I think God wants us to be right with Him in our hearts, and is not as concerned with "form."

Substance > Form
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13974542

A funny thing about "literal" stuff in the Bible is that there is only ONE place where we were not spoken to in parable, but rather by the actual hand of God--The Ten Commandments. (Aside from possibly the disembodied hand writing on the palace wall in Daniel?) Just food for thought.

I think your commitment and love for God in these dark times are the truly important attributes that the Father sees. I think writing "The Lord's" on your hand is a statement of that commitment and that's not a bad things.

Thanks...especially for your last paragraph.

But, I disagree. Much of the N.T. is in Jesus's own words, or those of his disciples. Much of the O.T. is the direct testimony of HIS patriarchs, judges, kings and prophets.

Also, everything should be taken literally unless it is obviously intended otherwise...i.e. if it says "He spoke to them in a parable, saying," or unless it is obvious metaphor or poeticisms.

Re: Weird coincidence: Writing "The Lord's" on the back of my right hand.
Throughout the years I've been tempted to get a tattoo. But I never did. Different events in my life, like my dog dying really tempted me. But I always thought the Bible said something about not defacing our bodies, so I never got any tattoos or piercings (although my mother pierced my ears when I was 3 months old which is customary in Spain, so I do have one piercing, but not through my actions.)

All of that being said (whew!) I would LOVE to have "The Lord's" tattoo'd on my hand.

Does anyone for sure if tattoo's are wrong in the Catholic faith?

Re: Weird coincidence: Writing "The Lord's" on the back of my right hand.
I don't know why, for sure. But a few months ago, I suddenly decided to write

"THE
LORD'S"

...on the back of my right hand.

Every few days it would fade, and I would re-write it.

I've been reading through the Bible for several years, at a pace of about once through each year. I must have been in Deuteronomy or Joshua--somewhere around there--but when I came to Isaiah a couple weeks ago, I came to this verse:

"One will say, `I belong to the LORD'; another will call himself by the name of Jacob; still another will write on his hand, `The LORD's,' and will take the name Israel." Is. 44:5

Maybe it means nothing, but I thought I would post it here to see if any of my Christian friends may have done the same...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13974542

I just read Isaiah 44 last night.

I was also going over David's prayer for Solomon and for the people...

We need Jesus and the Holy Spirit, but we must also KNOW who the Father is.

Thank you for sharing

OP - I know its confusing but I want you to know what Isaiah 44:5 really said when Isaiah wrote it

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80029403

you should ask God if you are chosen for working the field. Many are called but few are chosen. It's a great honor to be chosen.

Thanks. That's very interesting, especially as I had always heard they would be virgins. But, I also found this now:

Not really a weird coincidence. You said you have read through the Bible several times, you had that verse in the back of your mind. The verse came to you when needed, that is how it works.
