There we go with the loaded language again. The records were obviously not "kept secret" as they are Federal documents typically held in custody of the IRS once filed. I'm not sure what the NY AG hopes to accomplish with this. The IRS had only 3 years to audit and 7 to pursue criminal charges. A standard background check for SF-86 goes back at least 10 years and Trump was not only granted clearance, but held office for the last 4 years, so the records would need to be more than 14 years old putting them well outside the statute of limitations. This is nothing more than a political stunt to smear his reputation in anticipation of future campaigns. |
