It’s a toss up for me. I’ve been to the Rolling Hills Asylum in Bethany NY. Some say the most haunted place in the US, but worse for me was the Old City Jail in Charleston SC. Makes your hair on the back of your neck stand up.

Waverly insane asylum on Halloween before it was a tourist attraction

I think it's the most haunted place in the usa. Hands down.

Ever been to Salem, MA? 10 minute drive for me. Creepy around Halloween.
 Quoting: Simple27

Salem is cool. But that's me.
Dark history of course, but I feel at home there. Best damn crab cakes I ever had were in Salem.
 Quoting: BuckyBalls

Oh, Salem is very cool! I totally agree!

I've driven all over the world, and I've seen a lot of stuff I would call a freak show, especially in places in like India, but as far as creepy, I'd have to say Guatemala is the creepiest county I've driven around. Guatemala just has a general creepy feeling to it everywhere.

Re: Creepiest places you have ever visited?
I ended up at Robert Pickton's house for a party and met the guy.

I even ended up cooking some random ass food from the fridge, which for some reason I knew not to eat. Probably because I couldnt ID the food.

Pickton is Canadian serial killer btw.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76392954

That's a holy crap moment for sure.
 Quoting: BuckyBalls

Nah the holy crap moment was cooking the unknown food product. It resembled a ham roast without the marbled edge. And not pink but white. Looked like a DD cup boob... Either way I know I can cook because people enjoyed it! ba dum tcha.

Wind River range in central Wyoming. Putting up a first ascent on a new route on a 13k peak I had a near death experience. Almost fell 1500 feet, unroped. That night, with no one else within many miles of me, I had a visitor.

I have not been here but this is the creepiest place you will see in this thread. Read the comments of this Youtube video. It appears to be a human trafficking home that was abandoned in Canada.)

(Even creepier is that there is more than one Youtube video tour of this place.)

Re: Creepiest places you have ever visited?
The Grey Whale Inn [link to i1.wp.com (secure)] on Highway 1 in Fort Bragg California, it was built as a lumber company hospital back in 1915 and the owner had made no attempt to make it look like anything else.I arrived there with my wife on the proverbial dark and stormy night back in the winter of 1979.
Going from floor to floor was done on long gradual wheel chair ramps and the massive operating lamps were still the primary lighting in the larger guest rooms. Beds were the old industrial strength hospital types with sides that could be moved up and down too. The place just had an air of lingering agony and pain to it that set in on both of us very quickly.

Another place with an extremely bad vibe to it was the old Brand family graveyard in Glendale California but you can almost expect that from an old secluded graveyard. Interesting statuary and a small stone pyramid though with a family picnic area of all things, for sunny days when visiting the ancestors I guess.

The pyramid and a couple of the childrens graves: [link to ucarecdn.com (secure)]

Re: Creepiest places you have ever visited?
It was 2005 - my dad had a small retail shop on 57th street in Manhattan - he had no bathroom in the building - I drank a Jamba Juice and felt explosive diarrhea coming along
Dad advised me to head over to either the Morton Williams supermarket or Columbus Circle Mall
Supermarket was filthy but looking back it would've been the better option
What was to follow was sickening
Entered the rest room - did my business - looked up and through the crack I see TWO MEN engaged in heavy duty genitalia homosexuality
Someone then knocks on my stall - I literally screamed 'I'm in here! get the fuck away from me with your fagg0+ry"
By the time I left and got the mall cop this orgy that I unluckily happened upon was over and the cops laughed at me.

Years later I realize why I hate gays so much and was traumatized - I hate public toiletshiding

Abandoned buildings are meh.

Wind River range in central Wyoming. I was on a two week hike/climb. Solo. Days from the nearest trailhead. Its the most remote place I’ve ever been, no one visits, no info online about this basin, not a single sign of a hunting camp or anything ever being there. Even in Alaska I’ve never felt so far from everything. Putting up a first ascent on a new route on a 13k peak I had a near death experience. Almost fell 1500 feet, unroped. That night, with no one else within many miles of me, I had a visitor. There’s things in this world and in other realms. Whether it was a warning or a coincidence, I’ll never hike there again. Hiked 20 hours straight to get as far out of there as possible. Still took two more grueling days to get out. I never reported my first ascent. Never talked about my trip.

Colorado Springs, Colorado. Garden of the Gods. Something ain’t right about that whole place. Made me feel like I was not human. Then Manitou Springs. Same there too.

I mean, it was pretty enough, but the vibes were just strange.

Re: Creepiest places you have ever visited?
The site of the Andersonville prison.

Decades ago I went there when my wife and I took her mother there for research. She was doing family tree for a relative that she had traced to entering there, but no record afterwards.

It was a beautiful summer day, but as soon as turned off the road and though its entrance there was a papabile silence and a chill in the air. We were there for a while, and the entire time there I never heard a bird or see any small animals. It was still and eerily quite. I've been around haunted places before, but this one was overwhelming.

As soon as we left and went back through its entrance, the chill went away and the birds were singing. We were all touched by it and it took almost an hour before we shook it off.

One of the weirdest occurrences in my life.

Not too many places creep me out but I have been to some drug houses/apartment complexes and I've always had an uneasy feeling.
In saying that, the streets of DT Eastside Vancouver dont freak me out. Just going into enclosed places where if you were to get jumped there would be no where out.

Other than that if there are no people around the I'm golden. Fucking unpredictable humans.

The tower of London. It had a suit of armor on display with a large hole in the middle of the body part. I knew someone was wearing it when that happened and felt physically sick. I had to leave the building immediately.

I had business in the WTC buildings in the mid 90's. The place felt dead and rather awful. This was after the 1993 attack and obviously before the towers came down.

Stay out of really remote places in the northern end of the range. Unless you’re curious about shape shifters.
