I guess you never heard of CRISPR technology, Gabriel~. When that gene editing technology was "released" to Humanity it was already touted as the greatest gene editing technology. So great that it had the potential to give radical genetic alterations within a single generation. Since the original CRISPR technologies were released to Humanity, as far as I know, it has been revised multiple times to the point of making the original CRISPR technologies look like early 1900's gene technologies.
