Video: Belgian cyclist who kneed five-year-old girl to the floor for blocking his path is ordered to pay just €1 compensation because of abuse he received on social media

When I first learned of this (this is a few weeks old) I was shocked, just like everybody else. But the footage you saw on TV was shown without the sound.

Here you can hear the sound, and he definitely tried to warn the little girl. He was shouting "watch out, watch out" in an urgen tone. So I am concluding he did not want to actually hurt the little girl, his movement was not meant to brutalize her, but he was trying to sort of push her out of his way with his knee because he feared to slip with his bicycle and could not easily stop. He is probably someone who felt insecure on a bicycle (I don't know what he said to his defense however).

This is how I see it. I also remember at the time this appeared on TV it was said he got a probationary sentence which also shocked me.
