Disobeying or ignoring cops is not a crime. There are very limited circumstances that allow them to command a citizen. Sitting in a his own car is not one of them.

Can I point a gun at you and order you to do anything because someone called me and told me you had a gun?

I knew a kid in high school back in the 70's, the cops followed him onto the Akwesasne Mohawk reservation and shot out the tires of his car.

When the state trooper approached his car with gun drawn, the boy backed over the cop with his car, and then ran over him again going forward. He was charged with attempted murder, but the ALL INDIAN jury exonerated him with a 12 to 0 acquittal, 6 more than were needed under Mohawk law. The incident caused a lot of animosity among the police and eventually they were banned by law from coming onto the Mohawk reservation..

You see, the mistake the cop made was shooting at him out of his own legal jurisdiction. If he had shot and killed the Indian boy of the reservation, he'd have gotten clean way with it.

The point to this story is right and wrong are not determined by skin color. That Mexican man was not a criminal, he had not a single prison tat on him and no gun.

I'd bet my last fiat dollar the 911 caller was swatting the mexican man.

Imagine if you can this scenario.

You are out sitting in your own car with your woman listening to the radio in your own apartment parking lot where you live. Several armed men FROM A GANG KNOWN TO SHOOT PEOPLE FOR NOTHING AND GET AWAY WITH IT with rifles, pistols and shotguns drawn descend upon you giving you conflicting orders to raise your hands as well as not to move. Strobing lights specifically designed to cause a fight or flight response and unnecessary excitement are being employed.

You do the best you can to understand what they want you to do but they continue to point rifles and pistols at you hollering incoherently, obviously itching to pull the trigger and in a state of cowardly excitement.. With your hands up as far as you can get them, one of the cops shoots you anyway.

I have no sympathy for police officers. They pick and choose what laws to enforce and follow, and break the laws themselves and no one can do anything about it.

"Suspected felonious activity" and "possible hostage" have open ended meanings and practically any situation could apply.

. Police have to have what is called a reasonably articulate suspicion to believe a crime has been committed or is being committed before they can even order you to do anything, much less shoot you. An anonymous 911 call does not qualify.

People can say whatever they want to, in the absence of evidence it is just words.

You are walking across a parking lot, carrying a pistol.

A car pulls out of a space and proceeds in your direction, because you are in the only path of egress he has.

This was no different , with the possible exception the polcie had shot him and were continuing to act aggressively. There was never any moment in the entire video where the polcie had a legal right to order that guy to do a damned thing, much less shoot him/ Just being a brown man isnt enough.




The point here is you have to be careful what you say justifies police killing people, because this situation was purposely manipulated to use that excuse. And if you let them get away with that "he had a gun" or "I saw a gun" excuse, and person legally carrying could be shot by police
