An Austin Texas police officer charged with murder in the fatal shooting last year of an unarmed Austin man was booked into jail and released on bond Thursday, authorities said.

An arrest warrant was issued Wednesday for Austin police Officer Christopher Taylor in the death of Michael Ramos. The officer fatally shot him with a rifle in April as he drove away after another officer shot him with a beanbag gun.

Taylor, 29, was booked into the Travis County jail early Thursday and released a half-hour later on a $100,000 bond and the condition that he not posses a gun..

Guy wasn't committing a crime, didn't have a gun, and didn't do anything wrong. Wasn't driving toward any cops. They didn't even have a reason they could make up to shoot the guy. You can't just shoot someone because they are getting swatted.

I think the title is misleading to make you think funny stuff about the video. The guy was actually swatted.

The conversation prior pretty clearly indicates they wanted to get this guy at any cost due to prior incidents.

You can hear he is getting all sorts of differing commands from different directions which is typical.

This isn't the worst police one I have seen, but it isn't good either.

They overcharged him with murder because all states grant almost blanket immunity to cops making that almost impossible to convict for. The prosecuting attorney knows he will be exonerated that is how the game is played by the prosecutor. There are all sorts of serious but but lesser charges that could be leveled for this but they aren't for this very reason.

Cop definitely should be in prison the rest of his life.

It amazes me how many people defend the second amendment and then turn around and defend cops when they shoot someone and use that as an excuse, "I thought he had a gun".

Do you realize how fucking stupid that is? You're saying they are justified in shooting YOU simple because you have a gun.

It is important to remember that a police officer has no special rights to employ deadly force and the equal rights amendment states point blank every man and woman is protected by and subject to the same laws,set of paramters which must be met as all people who have taken CC classes should be able to tell you, and can only be employed in the direct defense of human life when a reasonable person would conclude the suspects intent was to kill them.

Shooting a person fleeing you in a car would get you a murder conviction.

You could argue that no matter who has several rifles trained on you, it is the "smart" thing to obey them, no matter who they are. Doe that mean your best move isnt to try to get away?

They planned it, they have no defense. And I am sure that the video has been edited as well as statements redacted. The video they released is the most distorted sound and obstructed view that they could pick from all who were on scene.
There is a hell of a lot more to this picture than meets the eye.
