Interesting. I've been hearing about it, but haven't looked at it until just right now:

Theta is a decentralized video delivery network, powered by users and an innovative new blockchain. Theta is an open source protocol purpose-built to power the decentralized streaming network and will allow for vertical decentralized apps (DApps) to be built on top of the platform to enable esports, music, TV/movies, education, enterprise conferencing, peer-to-peer streaming, and more. SLIVER.tv’s DApp will be the first application built on the Theta network leveraging its existing user base of millions of esports viewers.

DSN and the Theta protocol solve various challenges the video streaming industry faces today. First, Theta tokens are used as an incentive to encourage individual users to share their redundant memory and bandwidth resources as caching nodes for video streams. This improves the quality of stream delivery and solves the “last-mile” delivery problem, the main bottleneck for traditional stream delivery pipelines, especially for high resolution high bitrate 360° virtual reality (VR) streams. Second, with sufficient amount of caching nodes, the majority of viewers will pull streams from peering caching nodes. This significantly reduces content delivery network (CDN) bandwidth costs, which is a major concern for video streaming sites.

Lastly, the Theta network greatly improves the streaming market efficiency by streamlining the video delivery process. For example, advertisers can target end viewers at a lower cost and reward influencers more transparently. The Theta blockchain introduces three novel concepts: Reputation Dependent Mining: In the Theta protocol, the caching nodes play the role of miners in the blockchain. The block reward is not a constant, but depends on the reputation score of the caching node that mined the block. To obtain more mining rewards, miners not only spend computation power to mine blocks, but also relay video streams to downstream viewers to increase their reputation scores.

Global Reputation Consensus: We propose a mechanism for the Theta network to reach the global consensus on the reputation scores for each caching node. Proof-of-Engagement: We introduce a novel Proof-of-Engagement scheme to prove that viewers legitimately consume the video streams, providing better transparency to advertisers and a basis for viewers to earn Theta tokens for engaging with the content.

Theta has already run a lot, NervOS $CKB is layer 1 and huge investment from big players. Will probably hit top 10 in this bull run.

Re: Going all in crypto... Which coin to invest in?
Be smart, do nothing for a while but start absorbing information... youtube is pretty good. Get signed up to Binance, account approval takes a while.

I’ve been following the channel “mmcrypto” for a while, he’s intense and fast paced but his analysis is good. Learn what some of the patterns and behaviours are before you do anything, and do not “buy with FOMO”. If something is on the way up, leave it. Like bitcoin right now has jumped about $6-7K in less than 24 hours, don’t buy it now. It will dip back down for sure, not necessarily much but it will.
Ethereum is good.
Cordana seems good for a cheap one.
Dogecoin has become more solid of late, bit of a joke for a long time but worth a look.
Binance coin is well worth a look, quite clever that one.
Bitcoin is safe, it’s the gold of crypto. I bought a little in the mid $40K range. If it drops to $30K I won’t be sad, I’ll buy more.

The big money is in futures, short/long trades. Big risks too, not for beginners. That is mostly what the mmcrypto guy does, but his analysis is good for buying and holding too.

Learn terminology, it’s nearly another language. Learn how charts work, fibonacci etc.

Remember plenty of what you are really buying into is just internet hype, so learn what’s popular with people and why. This is why I like dogecoin and many other laugh it off, but shitloads of nerds online are really attached to this coin.

Get on youtube. Look at both the pros and cons of everything, make your own mind up but it’s worth listening to people who are against crypto too.

Slightly true, but largely wrong. You do buy as things hit ATH, you can either buy as they do it or expect a slight pullback to enter, but as prices go higher you should expect them to continue. Unless it's a pump and dump which certainly happened in 2017-2018. Bet with what your risk allows

Over the last 3 or 4 years I've seen numerous people turned off by crypto because they got told to buy at the ATH instead of waiting for the correction and dips. For traders with experience, sure, ride the wave, but people new to this could get wrecked if they catch that wave at the end. I personally think BTC will continue to go a little higher, but I see a correction coming after all the stimulus money gets pumped into it.

WRONG way to invest! You are experiencing FOMO - Fear Of Missing Out. That is no reason to enter a market.

You wait for a pullback. That is how I play it and I am a professional trader. The last time crypto pulled back 20-25% I went all in. Then I got out a few days ago because it is hitting all time highs. Yes, you leave some money on the table but I made OVER 100% profit. If that is not enough for you, then greed will take it all later.

Good luck and trade smart.

Re: Going all in crypto... Which coin to invest in?
I seemingly have to parse this
Part 1
Sorry to interrupt. I did financial advising pre-2008. Not as a pro but saved a lot of people a lot of money by getting out in April before it went tits up. OP...

OP...if you are coming here and asking for advice on which investment to go 'all in on', you've come to the wrong shop. You have to do your own due diligence on any investment you make. Trying to slide that responsibility, that is yours and yours alone, onto GuLPers in the case of a loss, is unfair. It is unfair to GuLPers. But mostly it is unfair to your own intellect.

Part 2

Sure come here and ask...
1) what to read as a suggested list
2) who or what to listen to (a maelstrom of a cacophony in the world of crypto's).
3) Is anyone else doing something akin and can we learn together?
4+)1=3 in roofing, learning and digging.

Part 3

So ask questions other then your first. No one can, nor should, tell you what to do with your currency. It is unfair as a question and it makes you smaller in your own persona-complex. Approach this in another way. 'Who trusts which pundit' is a good place to start. Crickey, I just went through this with my son. Just because old pundits were right once doesn't equal them being right upon the morrow.

part 4

So, sit back. Breath deeply, take a dividend of your investment money. Set it aside and spend more time learning. There are good people here with solid advice (Cryptotard comes to mind) on crypto's, but I bet he would back me in stating you need to do your own due dilligence. So take some time. I'm going through it right nwo. I'm looking at '@#$@^@' but realized that I don't have a fucking clue what I am talking about. Well, me discussing it with anyone turns into meaningless gibberish because I don't speak that language.

Part 5

Look at investing in Crypto's as learning a new language. As I have been told by some solid people...once you get in, it becomes easier. You learn the language the same way you would with a 'loose woman' of that foreign tongue via pillow chatter quicker then reading books. So Aim small, miss small, and don't go 'all in' on anything. Until you have it sighted. Just a bit of not wanted advice prolly...young men want to rush into things and let the chips fall where they may.

Re: Going all in crypto... Which coin to invest in?
You got $2,000 to throw in....throw it down a shit hole.

So if you buy Bitcoin and it goes to 100k,what did you gain risking your 2k? Well, buying it at 60k, $2000 would be worth $2,800. at 100k. Your risk reward isn't all that good.

Honestly, find something else to invest in. Bitcoin is backed by nothing tangible, no business, no hard asset like real-estate, zero, zilch, nothing.

So BTC could go to 100k and or the government could easily outlaw it, or any other assortment of reasons BTC could be worth a lot less, or nothing.

If you're going to gamble the money there are way better ways to gamble, like learn how options work, and wait for the right opportunity and you could 10 times your money, or lose it all. But at least you have better ROI if it hits.

or invest in a couple of different, new and upcoming stocks with a tangible business or asset that could go up 5 to 10 times in value. Find the new Google, or Tesla, or Apple, or just buy the Dow Jones Index. The train already left the station on BTC. Go find the next great one.

Buy a home, rent it out, and sell on the appreciation.

The best idea, would be to put it in savings and go to work and earn money the way it is suppose to be earned, work, and save is best plan.

The Fast buck schemes usually end up losing it all. I know, been there done that.

Absolutely terrible advice

Only way to get ahead is in defi.

I got lucky and turned 300 bucks into 350k this year trading shitcoins

Re: Going all in crypto... Which coin to invest in?
Wow 2 pages in and not a single mention of Algorand?

I wouldn’t tell you how to or what to invest in. But go research ALGO.

Made from MIT by their Turning award winning professor Silvio (equivalent of Nobel price in theoretical computer physics)

Created what appears to be the trinity of crypto platform. Can perform 46,000 transactions per second, with 2-4 second finality on trades, using their own special concept of pure proof of stake which largely eliminates the ability of bad actors to target IP addresses of hundreds or thousands of super stakers to take down a network with Denial of service attacks as well as bad actors who would be willing to forfeit their multi billion dollar stake to steal transactions on the network that would in theory be worth much more.

Their platform also operates using co-chains, which allows an institution or government to built on their platform while remaining permissioned and private with no fees while still enjoying all the benefits of the main chain. Only paying fees once they leave their private co-chain to trade over with other partners projects on the main chain or to any other chain paying an extremely low 0.001 ALGO (a fraction of a penny)

They are already up to 1.1 million transactions per day almost passing ethereum which is at 1.2 million per day as the most used network while almost nobody knows of them

They got the worlds first CBDC with the Marshall Islands building their SOV coin which is now their nations official currency

They got VERSABANK to create their VCAD Canadian stable coin on their network

They got Tether to build on their network

They got Goldman Sachs and Coinbases stable coin USDC to build and run on their platform due to the extreme speed and extremely low fees

They partnered with CURV the crypto custodial and multi party computation company in Israel in January and now in March PayPal just announced they bought CURV for $200,000,000

They are in talks with 16 countries for other CBDC’s and according to leaks from one of the team members 12 of those countries have passed the preliminary/exploration phase and have entered the build phase

The Federal reserve in Boston has created a partnership with MIT to stress test block chains for their federal reserve digital token.

Silvio the founder has now had 3 official on the book meetings at the federal reserve Boston

On their blockexplorer you can see there is a coin now named FEDCOIN and this coin had 200,000,000 Algo transferred from algos development foundations wallet

You want the Microsoft of the future blockchain ecosystem? This is looking like it is it.

You want the AOL of blockchain? Then stick with ethereum which will eventually get abandoned until Eth 2.0 will give it a resurgence in a few years to be the Linux of the blockchains the tech has just passed them by.

Algo isn’t bothered by advertising they have a 137 member team who is entirely involved with on boarding legacy finance and stable coins and is giving them a platform that they can entirely control with an iron grip in private in their own sub ecosystem for their corporation while also linking them to the main network where algo can profit when they enter.

At $1.11 right now is probably a bargain, this is one that has huge short and long term prospects

The growth of Bitcoin is exponential, it is not hyperbolic. Don’t plan on investing again if you are waiting for it to go down more than $5k on any given swing at this point.

Bitcoin was designed to grow exponentially from day one. You can pick ANY point in its growth trajectory, and it saw exponential growth.

Bitcoin must be worth a million dollars within the next 10 years. However you want to deal with that, do it.
