The BACK door too, REALLY? What is his deal? First of all I wouldn't have approached your property the first time with the No Trespassing signs. I think those are to be taken seriously. And he lives in his own "development" (i.e. neighborhood), so what's the point of him wandering all the way over to YOU for some chitchat? (or whatever) I could *maybe* justify the first visit and put it down to some sort of Superhuman Neighborliness to welcome you to the area. (Though I would expect that only of closer neighbors) At that time did he get a contact phone number from either of you? Because I would think if he was looking for work or had some other business with you, that a quick call or text would be more appropriate. Either way, after mentioning it the first time I see absolutely no reason why an electrician would do door-to-door marketing. And if he was just being friendly, why not visit in the evening when people are more likely to be home? The daytime thing is just creepy. Let me emphasize that, CREEPY. And just because you've met, I would not assume he's harmless. I would NOT open the door to him if you're alone! I'm seriously creeped out on your behalf. Yes get more info from the neighbors! It will also put THEM more on the lookout for stuff if they see him creeping around your house, whether you're there or not. Remember that BTK killer from Oklahoma? His family thought he was normal until they discovered otherwise. He did church stuff, scouting stuff, was a SECURITY SYSTEM INSTALLER. So, don't let your guard down for any reason. Also update the thread if anything else happens! Trisherella |

nutmeg User ID: 76388104 United States 03/15/2021 01:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Years ago, when I had kids living in the house, I didn't necessarily keep my doors locked during the day unless I left the house in the car. Quoting: nutmeg One day, I was sitting in my house when someone rang the doorbell. I didn't feel like answering it. Another salesman? My kids were in school. All of a sudden, that someone tried to open the door. I could hear the door handle going back and forth. OMG! I froze! Thank goodness....that day the door was locked! I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I ran to the window only to see a 20-30ish black man walking away. I should have called the police, but I think I was in shock. From now on, my doors are ALWAYS locked! That is insane and I'm glad you are safe, that can for sure be life changing and make your entire routine different. I used to live in more of a suburban area so another poster was right it could be paranoia. But we are also on the Netdoor App and even out here many people are saying keep your doors locked cars are getting stuff stolen out of them, lock your sheds lawnmowers and ATVs are getting stolen, close your windows when you leave and this is in a small community of just a few thousand people in a somewhat large area. Is it the same where you are? I'm in a housing development. In a cul-de-sac; I usually feel very safe. I've lived here for many years, and have never heard of problems. I have wonderful neighbors, and we each mind our own business, but I know we still have to be careful for outsiders. And yes...my front door is always locked now. Years ago, when we had newspapers, I remember reading a warning in another community around 20 miles away.... The article said that theives were watching for families working in their yards. If they were working in the front yard, theives were entering the back door, and vice versa. Last Edited by nutmeg on 03/15/2021 01:39 PM |

Go to his door, knock and tell him that you are aware he came on your property and ask what he wants. It should catch him off guard. Keep in mind some people are just nosy. He still has no business walking around your yards like that. Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world. -- Abraham Lincoln The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion. -- Albert Camus |
