I recall an update to that story indicating there was a transactional drug relationship between the men. Personally I'd feel better about humanity if it was drug-related and not due to hate. Here's a link to a story on the topic: [ link to www.theguardian.com (secure)] Mr. Henderson in court transcripts indicated that Mr. Shepard was intoxicated and that they lured him out of the bar by offering him drugs. There was no drug deal other than Mr. Henderson luring an intoxicated Matthew Shepard out of the bar with an offer of pot. After being lured out of bar they beat him and tied him to a fence post in sub-freezing weather to die. But while he was tied to the post, they made Matthew engage in oral with both of the men. This according to court transcripts.
