I recall an update to that story indicating there was a transactional drug relationship between the men. Personally I'd feel better about humanity if it was drug-related and not due to hate. Here's a link to a story on the topic: [ link to www.theguardian.com (secure)] There was a strong drug nexus in this case, according to Wyoming law enforcement I've spoken to. But the MSM wanted to paint Wyoming as a gay-free zone and the story was twisted into that.
