Any Toyota mechanics here...
I've worked on my cars since high school and never have I had an issue like this where I can't seem to resolve it.

I'm literally on the 3rd hub assembly (pre-pressed w/bearings) and this truck will not accept them.

First two were Dorman's, 2nd was Carquest. Typically I'd go OEM but the Dorman's actually looked like a direct OE fit so I don't see how that can bee the problem.

Proper torque applied to all nuts and bolts with a good torque wrench. Axle nut was torqued to 175.

First installation was on tight with no wobble, but made a lot of grinding noise and you could tell the bearings weren't spinning freely. I replaced it, and when it removed it you could see the bearings overheated and shot their grease out so it must have been bound in there pretty good.

Second hub assembly+bearings, slightly more wobble than first time but still fairly tight feeling but the grinding howling noise was bad.

THIRD time, I get it out of town and up to 60mph and the wheel starts violently wobbling and shaking and feeling like it was going to go flying off. It had a horrible burning smell, possibly stuck brakes not entirely sure, and definitely felt unsafe to drive.

WTF is going on here? Everything was taken apart and reassembled as per the Dorman and Carquest manuals with proper torque.

Sounds like you answered your own question. Go OEM - take the hit but less hours involved.

Maybe that axle nut torque is too high.

If the pressure is directly on the bearing...

If that is a castellated nut with a cotter key, I guarantee it is over torqued.

You talking torque specs may have been updated or the part itself (hub assembly) may have a newer model?

Good points if so. I do believe the axle nut torque spec is already updated and dropped from 214ft/lb or so so they must have been having issues at the spec and updated it already but I will re-verify.

Sounds like a quality control issue with the parts.

This pandemic has messed up lots of things.

I just recently went through 4 starters in my vehicle. The first three were all defective. 2 Bosch Remans (in the United States), 1 AutoZone Duralast New (China) and the last is a AutoZone Duralast Reman (China) and that is working well for three weeks.

It was a nightmare.

Major quality control issues now due to Covid restrictions crap.

Did you check ball joints and control arms?

1) Probably. The bearing for sure is a goner and maybe the axle overheated too

2) Replaced all of those last year (albeit with non-OEM parts lol) and should be ok. Will double check though.

It does have the castellated nut with cotter pin and I had the same thoughts but the manuals all say 173ft/lb so I thought she'd be good at 175 but then again, it keeps failing.

Now that you mention it, the truck was pulling to the left a bit and when I hit the brakes it pulled a lot harder to the left. Would the caliper be sticking to the rotor because the rotor got warped from heat or?

Is it a unitized hub and bearing?

The bearing relies on the clamping force of the CV axle shaft to keep the unit assembled. If the CV axle is stretched or damaged, then the nut may torque to spec, but the proper clamp load isn't applied to the bearing races and it'll destroy itself in short order.

I believe it is.

Good info.

So in that scenario I'd be looking at replacing the CV axle and then reinstalling new hub assembly, being careful to not over torque the axle nut?

Yep. Unless you can identify why it isn't clamping the unit. There could be a sleeve or washer missing. I'd look for a youtube vid and watch close.
