They were planning on enforcing the mask rule "forever" (and even beyond 2030), however...

It was mostly as a test, to see how far the sheeple would comply.

However, people started seeing what a sham this all was, and how pointless it was to get a vaccine if they couldn't "buy their freedom" with it (to take off their face diapers). My sister (a brainwashed sheep) was in this demographic, as was my mother and most of the people I know. "What is the point of taking a vaccine if I still have to wear a mask?" Oh, those are the words of a true freedom-lover right there! And someone who certainly has heard of the Hegelian dialectic.

Suddenly, CNN's handlers were faced with the challenge of recuperating that significant demographic of people who were about to take the vaccine but said they wouldn't if they didn't get at least a fair deal in this bribe. And so that's why they did a 180 and say, okay nevermind, the masks can come off when you socialize with others, but only if it's been 2 weeks post-vaccination.
