I think I know why they aren't pushing for everyone to take zinc
I had some problems years ago with acid reflux, they gave me the purple pill - prilosec, and some reglan

my health went down anyway, ended up with a lot of bad bacteria in the intestines and no good bacteria, finally figured out I had a gluten issue that wasn't obvious

long story short, I ended up with a holistic doc because no regular docs were helping and one of the things he put me on was zinc, he said that you need stomach acid to absorb zinc and you need zinc to produce stomach acid, so you can get in this vicious cycle of low zinc and then you have issues with stomach acid production and digestion, that was a long time ago

I've noticed since I upped my zinc supps recently to combat covid that my stomach acid has increased

how many people here have noticed a change in their acid reflux or digestive issues after taking zinc for a while? or even their overall health?

I think zinc is probably low in a lot of people with other ailments, especially digestive ones, and the drug companies don't want people to start taking zinc because they will lose some digestive related prescriptions, like the purple pill or whatever they're using now

I'm sure there's a new patented version of prilosec now, that patent must have run out long ago, and I remember like 20 years ago it was $5 per pill

btw, acid reflux and the burning can happen with low stomach acid, too, so beware of taking an acid reducer unless you know what's going on, you may end up wrecking the bacterial balance in your intestines, get a comprehensive digestive stool analysis to see how you're digesting your food

Zinc is good for you but can cause major health issues if you constantly overload. I regularly take moderate amounts of ZMA in addition to several other supplements.

Big Pharma and the Medical Industry profit off of your illness and suffering and have no incentive for you to become healthy again so of course the powers to be are not going to tell you what things to do to make you healthy again and get off of their expensive drugs.

If I take too much zinc I throw up. I had no idea that could happen to people. I had some zinc supplements that were 50 mg a day- which is way more than a woman needs -and I was taking them daily and soon I started throwing up violently every time I took one.

I thought it was just that brand at first so I quit taking them, but every time I would take anything with zinc in it, I would get sick again. Looked it up and it's because of the zinc toxicity.

I quit taking it all together for a while and I guess my levels came down. I really watch the numbers now.

I was taking the supplements that was specifically zinc 50 mg, but there were smaller amounts of zinc and a lot of things around the house that I was eating and drinking too.

I noticed that if I took my zinc supp with breakfast I got nauseous so I take it with lunch and problem solved, it's Jarrow Formulas Zinc Balance with 15 mg zinc and 1 mg copper

but yeah, you can take too much, I don't take mine every day if I'm sitting at home, usually every other day

Take one 200 mcg selenium tablet a day. Make sure you have enough vitamin D in your system.

Selenium does the same thing zinc does inside the cell to make it an unfavorable environment for virus spikes to work. Shuts down the replication process.

There are forms of zinc that are gentler on your stomach

Zinc sulfate is my preferred one, and seems about the best absorbed, zinc picolinate(sp?) is also good

Always take zinc with meals

As for why there is no push for people to take zinc, same reason there is no push for anything vitamin/mineral/herbal, there is no money in it for Big Pharma which runs the entire medical industry

I get nauseous after taking zinc so now I only take a 50mg tablet every 3 days.

Vitamin D3 can accumulate in your system too so be careful how much you take.
