Fiddlehead is great cooked fresh and also pickled.

Ramps are up here too. but it is important to remember to wildcraft sustainably. Ramps especially have become popular in the last few years and are being overharvested locally.

It won't be long before morels are around up here. I think folks in the south are already finding them.

I picked my nursing cat some violets, she eats them like candy.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71375307

That's good to know ! I've observed cats also like to munch on onion grass, even tho' many vets today advise against giving cats onions or garlic, years ago I had an encyclopedia of Pet remedies and garlic and onions were recommended to feed them for anti-parasitical and flea repellent properties....
i just wonder why current day vets would advise against this,
unless it's greed based to steer people into buying expensive chemicals...

 Quoting: SkyTiger

Onions and garlic may not harm them immediately... but it supposed to do something to their blood which is not reversible....

I found about 10 beautiful blonde morels yesterday!!!! They’ve been soaking in salt water. Good eating in about 4 hours!!! Woot!!!

These are the first I’ve held in my hands for 20 yrs!!! When I saw all the Sycamore leaf litter. My heart gave a little patter and I thanked the Lord and Jesus for such a fine day. 3min. Later..... I saw one. It literally healed this country girls soul a little bit. send

Grape leaves (organic) make wonder tea... fresh or dried.
I dry a bunch of them to use all year and use fresh when available.

Forsythia

[link to www.eattheweeds.com]

Excerpt:

"For a very common ornamental that has also liberated itself there is nothing about the Forsythia as an edible plant in my entire library, which is now around 100 books plus papers, DVDs et cetera. Yet the blossoms are edible raw, though they can be slightly bitter.

They add color to salads and are a cheery garnish. The very young leaves are also edible raw but that’s iffy as they contain some of the glycoside Phillyrin, and it’s debatable just how nasty that is. Very young leaves have also been added to soups. As you can see the key is “very young leaves.” ..."
