We also always cooked our poke mixed in with scrambled eggs. Now that's some good eatin' right there y'all! Lol Oh and mulberries! Can't forget those! Quoting: drinking buddy I tried to reply about the sting. Most of the sting comes from little hairs on the underside of the leaves so best to only touch the stems and far down from the leaves. There is another plant called jewel weed or touchmenot that often grows nearby and you can crush the leaves of that plant and rub on a sting and it will stop it immediately. https://imgur.com/a/ScWLTW1 Jewel weed also is good if you get a rash from poison Ivy. Same as usual. No one wants to go. I am enraged. We follow the logged units from the year before or the burns here in oregon. Morel hunting is also one of my favorite things to do as spring is a great time to wander the woods.i love berry season too from huckleberry to the black cap raspberries. You gotta send pics. I picked some morels in Missouri one year, they were over 10 inches tall and as big as a pop can, so heavy some had bent over. This was before internet and cell phones. They were in an old dried up pond with Sycamore trees all around. Sycamore leaves were thickly strewn from years of being undisturbed.. UNtil I discovered them. lol Making sammiches great again! |

For 17 years I never once used fertilizer or weed killer on our property. It was like a giant salad. lol! I am surrounded in poison ivy here. It's never been attended to, I've already had it three times this year. Right now it's on my eyelid... I will have to use the weed killer or spend all summer in the ER. I'm highly susceptible. :( Making sammiches great again! |

Wild edible plants are popping up everywhere. It’s like walking around in a giant salad. Just have to wash off the raccoon pee. I adored Euell Gibbons. Ever hear of him? He was great! |

Rinse in cool, lightly salted water. Cut off stem ends close to flower heads, leaving just enough to hold petals together. Roll flowers in paper towels to remove excess moisture. Make batter by combining egg, milk, flour, salt and pepper. Dip flowers into batter. Drop batter-coated blossoms into deep fryer set at 375 F. Fry until lightly browned. Drain on absorbent paper and sprinkle with more salt as taste dictates. Enjoy! |
