The idea that during a "state of emergency" the state can grab extreme power and set aside the constitution has always been a huge flaw waiting to be exploited. I'm surprised it took this long. The people grabbing the power are the sane ones deciding or controlling those who decide if there is an "emergency" or not.

The only role of the government during an emergency should be to provide resources and advice for those who want to use it. Forcing people to do stuff during an emergency should not be the role of the government because it's an obvious path to abuse of power and its not their place to play nanny and parent to grown adults like we are children. Now we are seeing the poisonous fruits of these flawed policies.
