Fing psychopaths. i have done a fair bit of bicycle touring as well, trek 520 panniers the whole 9. did the 70-100 miles a day through a few states thing as well, very fun! it is also pretty unnerving at times. i ride the 7-8 miles one way to work at times it's not too bad but occasionally yeah there's the people who don't care if they crush you. and i do my part obey the rules of the road and stay as far right as possible at all times, and most people are courteous and give space. but some want you dead |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 74989799 United States 04/25/2021 02:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In FL everyone is driving pissed off because our once easy to drive roads are jam packed with people moving here in record numbers. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78126632 Add one more to the ledger. I am moving there in 1-2 years. Panhandle. Not in the belly of the beast. I lived in Orlando for a year once years ago and it was people on top of people then. Can't imagine what it is now. FL has a good Governor now and no state tax. Oh and no winter. Even with all the people in Orlando then, it was still better than up north. I could bike every day even if I had to drive through insane traffic to get to the bike path. |

Once rage sets in reasoning is void. That’s I i stay out of it, move over avoid any interaction. I observe in silence. Drive the whole Pinellas county FL m-f The aggression is off the charts . the volume is insane. Add in texting, reading n work done by drivers ; maddening yet soul crushing. I move on stay alert to the road n get thru the day. N to S , E to W - most main routes affected by construction. Stay out of it, stay alert, expect anything at any given moment. Anonymous Coward User ID: 78701318 04/25/2021 03:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I work with a wide cross section of people in the automotive field, and I tend to notice trends, particularly in the area of automotive styling. People tend to project their personality onto their vehicle. It sort of becomes their avatar on the road. Quoting: •Scott• Lately any accessory that can be bolted onto a Jeep Wrangler that makes it appear bigger and meaner has been selling like hotcakes. Off road mods I get. Lifts, bigger tires make a Jeep more capable off road. But one came in the other day and it looked like something out of a Mad Max movie. It was dull black, it had a steel visor and the whole nose was sheet metal and he had put red halos in the once round and now evil squinting headlights to make it look as menacing as possible. Mazda went through a brief period with their cars when they made them to look like they were grinning and it almost bankrupted them. They weren't well received at all. No one wanted a happy smiling car. Any car or truck that is fast, loud and can look intimidating is getting snapped up in record numbers. Challengers. Chargers. The new $100,000 Ram TRX Hellcat truck. We can't keep them in stock. Driving styles are also reflecting attitudes and egos. These jacked up jeeps and trucks are rarely driven slowly and sedately. They're usually tailgating, speeding, whipping in and out of traffic and just begging for a wreck. I'm seeing it as a collective cry for help. People are afraid and insecure, and they certainly don't want to appear that way to their fellow humans, so overcompensation in the other direction is the result. Why else take a humble jeep like this, [imgur] [link to i.imgur.com (secure)] And spend a lot of money to turn it into something like this? [imgur] [link to i.imgur.com (secure)] Just Empty Every |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80269492 United States 04/25/2021 03:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You're a fuckin idiot. Guys from their teens on up have been modding trucks and cars to look “bad” forever. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80176690 You just never noticed before because you thought this country was all nice and sparkly. Probably grew up in a suburb, huh. I know guys that were modding and ramming people 50 years ago. Thank you. And I've been modding cars forever myself. But appearance modifications are taking on a whole new level. The manufacturers are even in on the game as their research is finding the more intimidating they can make their product look, the better it sells, all other functionality aside. There's something wrong with our psyche as a collective and it's manifesting in strange places. what the poster isn't getting ( 2 quotes up ) is that people are fkn angry inside. They want to look MEAN, they are going over the top crazy. I grew up moddin off road vehicles. My purpose was function. To make them super capable. I'd laugh at the stupid idiots putting 12 shocks on their trucks and never taking othem offroad. They did it to be "cool" because they were insecure tards. Now...it's gone to a different level. It isn't to be "cool" it's to be meaner than the next guy. They spend ridiculous amounts of money on mods to look super mean and super cool. Super tough guys. And ...they are all asshole types with a broom stick up their asses. |
