Re: People are desperately reaching out...
it's the passive aggressiveness and people thinking they are insulated from consequences by the sort of anonymity that cars provides which exacerbates all this. people are violent and it's becoming very evident on the road. they require nothing to be set off now, and are fine with bullying everyone with a few tons of steel at their disposal.

if you've ever ridden a motorcycle in this madness you know how truly violent it is and how people disregard human life completely now. they don't care. you inconveniencing them for 5 seconds is worth you dying over.

My tailgate is seriously malfunctioning; I must need more fiber. And the only thing on my f150 that hasn't broken is that goddamn bell. I would shoot that sob if it still allowed the truck to start.

Those narcissistic dumbos will be targeted first in the collapse. 1. Because only poobags drive those cars. 2. Because they clearly have too many resources that need liberated. I for one can't wait to see their poo eating grins disappear when they realize they are driving a giant target. Bwahahaha

I have always driven POS cars and trucks. No vanity or projection. One time I had a pickup that was an old police vehicle. It still had the spotlight on the side and traffic all around me slowed down. I admit I liked that vanity.

Spending the type of money on a new jeep like you are talking about is almost a house now. I would rather have an appreciating house.

Faqqot zoomer in an all black Mustang was weaving in and out of traffic like he was driving a NASCAR race. He tried using the shoulder to pass. Filled with rage. Probably on meth too. Tried starting shit at a stop light until he saw granny had a dash cam. Looked like he shit his pants.

i have done a fair bit of bicycle touring as well, trek 520 panniers the whole 9. did the 70-100 miles a day through a few states thing as well, very fun!

it is also pretty unnerving at times. i ride the 7-8 miles one way to work at times it's not too bad but occasionally yeah there's the people who don't care if they crush you. and i do my part obey the rules of the road and stay as far right as possible at all times, and most people are courteous and give space. but some want you dead

Add one more to the ledger. I am moving there in 1-2 years. Panhandle. Not in the belly of the beast. I lived in Orlando for a year once years ago and it was people on top of people then. Can't imagine what it is now. FL has a good Governor now and no state tax. Oh and no winter.

Even with all the people in Orlando then, it was still better than up north. I could bike every day even if I had to drive through insane traffic to get to the bike path.

Once rage sets in reasoning is void.
That’s I i stay out of it, move over avoid any interaction.
I observe in silence. Drive the whole Pinellas county FL m-f
The aggression is off the charts .
the volume is insane. Add in
texting, reading n work done by drivers ; maddening yet soul crushing. I move on stay alert to the road n get thru the day.
N to S , E to W - most main routes affected by construction.
Stay out of it, stay alert, expect anything at any given moment.
Tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day!

What the OP's post and his theories are all about, whether accurate or not, are set against the backdrop of a nation reeling from Covid-19 Karen-Gestapoism. Along with Silicon-Valley Orwellian-China-fication and some of the most corrupt hosebags in American history occupying major positions in government, corporations, entertainment, sports.

Dark times indeed. For whatever reason though, FL looks like a place to get away from a few of those times. Way back when I would have said TX all day long but they are libtard CA rich refugees now or Mexico taking back it's property.

Re: People are desperately reaching out...
I work with a wide cross section of people in the automotive field, and I tend to notice trends, particularly in the area of automotive styling. People tend to project their personality onto their vehicle. It sort of becomes their avatar on the road.

Lately any accessory that can be bolted onto a Jeep Wrangler that makes it appear bigger and meaner has been selling like hotcakes. Off road mods I get. Lifts, bigger tires make a Jeep more capable off road. But one came in the other day and it looked like something out of a Mad Max movie. It was dull black, it had a steel visor and the whole nose was sheet metal and he had put red halos in the once round and now evil squinting headlights to make it look as menacing as possible.

Mazda went through a brief period with their cars when they made them to look like they were grinning and it almost bankrupted them. They weren't well received at all. No one wanted a happy smiling car.

Any car or truck that is fast, loud and can look intimidating is getting snapped up in record numbers. Challengers. Chargers. The new $100,000 Ram TRX Hellcat truck. We can't keep them in stock.

Driving styles are also reflecting attitudes and egos. These jacked up jeeps and trucks are rarely driven slowly and sedately. They're usually tailgating, speeding, whipping in and out of traffic and just begging for a wreck.

I'm seeing it as a collective cry for help. People are afraid and insecure, and they certainly don't want to appear that way to their fellow humans, so overcompensation in the other direction is the result.

Re: People are desperately reaching out...
In Australia--as soon as we lost our local car industry--people started getting nostalgic for old Australian-made cars
Since around 2013 I started getting offers for my 35 yr old Holden Gemini--even when it was rear-ended

Attempts were made to steal it on more than one occasion

When it finally gave up the ghost--in 2016 I upgraded to a 1990 Holden Commodore
A year later-- the last Australian-made car came off the assembly-line--& now that car is attracting attention

I think something happened to the Australian male psyche when the local car industry died

You're a fuckin idiot. Guys from their teens on up have been modding trucks and cars to look “bad” forever.

You just never noticed before because you thought this country was all nice and sparkly. Probably grew up in a suburb, huh.

I know guys that were modding and ramming people 50 years ago.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80176690

Thank you. And I've been modding cars forever myself. But appearance modifications are taking on a whole new level.

The manufacturers are even in on the game as their research is finding the more intimidating they can make their product look, the better it sells, all other functionality aside.

There's something wrong with our psyche as a collective and it's manifesting in strange places.
 Quoting: •Scott•

what the poster isn't getting ( 2 quotes up ) is that people are fkn angry inside. They want to look MEAN, they are going over the top crazy.

I grew up moddin off road vehicles. My purpose was function. To make them super capable. I'd laugh at the stupid idiots putting 12 shocks on their trucks and never taking othem offroad. They did it to be "cool" because they were insecure tards.

Now...it's gone to a different level. It isn't to be "cool" it's to be meaner than the next guy. They spend ridiculous amounts of money on mods to look super mean and super cool.
Super tough guys. And ...they are all asshole types with a broom stick up their asses.

so...these were the result of road rage? Maybe...just maybe, it's time to get the flyinfk out of the city?

nah. Everyone wants to stay and play wtshtf. Rage flows even in the bystander's veins that say "look at those raging fools"..."they'll get their day when I can take vengeance on them"

people want to be in war so they stay to play
