Why is there no food or gas?

whats going on is that the people are fed up with the government, they are sick of the corruption, and now Duque wants tax reforms, meaning that people that already had nothing will have to pay even more money, the basic needs like coffee, rice etc will get tax they did not as the mayority of the people cant pay that. most have to live of 400 usd as a basic income and maintain the whole familie with that money.

and so many more reasons, the murdering of social activists enviromentalists etc.

its damn pretty in Colombia and the people are awesome but this is just something that has to happen.

in Cali, which as become a fort, no trucks are allowed in our out, and Cali is also a big hub for Colombia actually so other cities might also not get supllied, another thing is that the farmers are protesting meaning that their products are not getting to the shops.

so yea its one big mega protest of many areas of the population.

the thing is that the police and army let the criminals loot and do nothing but the protesters are getting killed....

Not long ago I read Colombia would be a great place for Americans to move to. Cheap prices, friendly people and beautiful country like no other...

I had been thinking of moving somewhere else for a few years now, and every time I run across a place that might be ok, it turns into a very bad place to go to.

I came to the conclusion the wars and rumors of war is the way it's going to be from now on, so I will stay put.

This is sad to hear about Colombia, I did hear there were problems with refugees coming over from Venezuela, now this.

The looters have looted everything there is to loot.

The government destroyed the economy, 10's of 1,000's of small businesses and put millions out of work with draconian lockdown measures. Now their solution is to have a massive tax increase to pay for it. Of course most people know the government got massive loans at very favorable rates from the world bank with strings attached that continued the lockdown measures while people were going hungry and unable to pay for services. The people are justifiably pissed, that said, I've seen nothing but peaceful protest marches. But I'm not in Cali either.

If you lived here 6 months you know that most people live a quiet normal life. I don't know anyone that does drugs, I'm sure I could probably find some if I tried hard enough but there's no incentive to sell an export comodity here that's worth so much more elsewhere.
