NASA launching 4 stage "Black Brant" rocket this evening to create artificial Aurora From Virginia

Looks like a kids attempt at a news blog that went bad.

Maybe you could google it and report back when you find a news article with more gravitas, saying they banged the rocket and it will take 2 days to inspect it? Friday evening now the earliest launch window.

"The KiNet-X experiment consists of a single rocket launch carrying seven separable payloads. Diagnostic instrumentation is carried on the main payload and four small subpayloads, while the barium vapor clouds will be released from two additional larger subpayloads. This allows for a multiple-point view of the disturbances created by the barium vapor releases. The four small subpayloads, nicknamed “Bobs”, each about the size of a two-liter soda bottle, make measurements of the space environment through which the barium-vapor-induced disturbance travels.

Just depends on the cloudiness. Somewhat marginal.

Just heard that the reason today is the last day for the launch, is because of the Moon location. It will shine too much light on the observation area after tonight.

Finally happened. Couldn't see anything here. They finally launched it and we had heavy cloud cover.

My sister tried to see it from Pittsburgh, but too many clouds I guess.
