But why cant dogs be fed a vegan diet if properly supplemented with b, d vitamins and whatever else is missing that meat supplied before? Sounds reasonable and a good way to end all the factory farming of animals, saving a lot of suffering and resources too. All dog food seems to be corn loaded with vitamin supplements anyway

Taurine powder / supplement doesn't work the same as taurine derived from meat for cats and dogs.
