Electricity maybe a problem before long, to keep up with any problems in the electric lines people have to drive trucks and a lot of utility companies don't use electric vehicles, they use gas. Your food also comes in gas driven trucks. UPS doesn't have all electric vehicles. There is a lot more than a few things that need gas, even the trackers in the fields growing food.

Why would a cyber attack have so much influence over a pipeline to keep it down for long time. Why can't they go in fix quickly

There's literally nothing that controls a pipeline that can be shut down by ransomeware. You are talking about RF and RS-232 serial communications controlled over Unix command line. Any connections of these to a window based system would be through a virtual machine instance. In 2021 most of these will have cellular redundancy so someone can SSH in to make changes. So tell me why a windows based Ransomeware brings down an entire pipeline? My thoughts-- some old lady in billing clicked a bad link and it shut down an peripheral network that has nothing to do with the pipeline itself. For precautions it was shut down, and they have failed to be able to turn it back on where its stable. If thats the case its not ransomeware.. but whoever designed the network in the first place.
