The Rockefeller Foundation in 1913 founded May 14th

This is very significant

It was just 108 years ago today, May 14, 1913, when the state legislature of New York approved the charter of both a father and son’s philanthropical dream of helping their fellow man. John D. Rockefeller, Senior and Junior, American tycoons with a lot of oil on their hands, sought an organization to help advance mankind. Such institutions as the John Hopkins and Harvard Schools of Public Health owe much to the Rockefellers.

However, many things have happened throughout history, some good and some bad, but all in the name of the “greater good”, including America’s eugenics program, which the Rockefeller Foundation supported, including eugenics in Germany, at the time, Nazi Germany. However, don’t let that discourage you, for the Foundation continues to donate to many notable causes, such as medical and education needs.

Standard Oil was the first great business trust in the United States. Rockefeller revolutionized the petroleum industry and, through corporate and technological innovations, was instrumental in both widely disseminating and drastically reducing the production cost of oil. His company and business practices came under criticism, particularly in the writings of author Ida Tarbell.




The Supreme Court ruled in 1911 that Standard Oil must be dismantled for violation of federal antitrust laws.
