I have heard of NLP but it's a joke. You have to be weak minded to fall for those tricks.

the manipulation of language involved is just about framing, and changing those frames is a subtle way to affect people's mentality without any explicit awareness. But its power ends quickly with a bit of awareness, it isn't really pervasive beyond that

it comes from cell phone location data, amazon purchase habits, click data on netflix. there isn't anywhere it doesn't come from

It's not NLP you should be worried about per se. It's the projection it displays and your immersion in it which ends up creating an operating system for you.

I don't think it's very hard to influence most people - just make them think they're on the side of something good and righteous to make them feel good and indicate that EVERYONE - all DECENT people do such and such - and that anyone who doesn't do this or believe this is a "bad" person.

Most people fold pretty quickly. Man is a herd animal unless you're one of the bell wethers or the rare maverick.
