Only you can do the research and only you know your risk tolerance.

CD- low low interest bearing. Doesn’t match inflation. Doesn Match damage to value of the dollar.

Mutual funds- some guarantee the level of interest (fixed interest funds).. Some don’t. The ones that don’t, past performance isn’t indicative of future results. But there is something out there that will probably fit what you are looking for. So those that don’t guarantee, they are so much more risky, but if you are okay keeping the money away for a long time, you might see returns that are massive.

Day trading - you can do this with stocks or forex or crypto or anything, with or without leverage. But, you have to realise it’s money you may lose. You’d need to educate yourself before delving. Most people lose money. You have kids. Not likely a great option. This is the most risky option of everything I mention.

Before you get any ideas I carry two handguns.

Then I wouldn't consider that a large sum, in fact it's rather small but it's all perception anyway.

Don't be foolish with it (waste it on things that won't make you happy) and don't expect huge growth overnight. If you want to preserve the value, put the money in good growth mutual funds and make 10-12% annually and reinvest the dividends. Over the next 10 years, you would triple it easy.

I wouldn't play in the precious metals arena unless you are simply looking to offset inflation with minimal growth. Definitely no cryto... too much risks IMO.

Land would probably be your best bet and most likely would be what I myself would do. Find yourself a good 5+ acres and pay cash for it. You can use the land for recreation and have a place to bug out to if needed. You can build later if you want or sell it in the future for a very nice profit.

All my advice is based on long term savings ideas.

Dollar won't be falling. Dollar doesn't exist anymore lol since the emergency banking act did away with the dollar. you think the federal reserve note is a dollar.... its not. Its a good thing and we will all trust in that. Anyways I like to take whatever extra funds i have and give it to my favorite people as random secret gifts lol everyone loves a good montary gift.
