Assuming you are referring to about $25,000-$35,000 and if all bills are paid off, I would invest about $5,000 in gold and silver coins only, no paper shares. and in gas/solar generators for the whole house. Make sure you have at least 6 months worth of food supplies, many hundreds of gallons of water and if space allows raise chickens, dairy cows.

Do you have your food preps? I would get a three year supply. You can't go wrong on stockpiling food.

And consider what your water source is. I am on city water but my next door neighbor has city water AND a frost-free well pump in her yard. Do you have a Berkey water purification system?

Do you have portable solar to charge up your laptop in case of electrical grid failure? It can also re-charge batteries to run LED lights, safer than candles and oil lamps.

Ammo was a great investment as its price has more than tripled in the past two years.

If you have kids, you could buy some sturdy boots and coats in ascending sizes that they will grow into in the years to come.

Think about all the medical situations that could occur, and create a medical/dental kit. You don't necessarily have to be the one to perform sutures on a deep wound but at least have the necessary supplies on hand in case a trained medic can be found. Do some research on anti-biotics and which types are used for what illnesses. Buy the avian or fish antibiotics much cheaper and without a prescription; they are made of the same ingredients in the same factories.
