The best way to treat a computer, is to install what you need and make sure everything works, then DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING. No updates. Just keep using it until you have an actual reason to move on to newer software. This should take three years at least. And then you delete your hard drive and install an updated system from scratch. Three more good years to go! This way, you always have a fully functioning computer. Problem is, of course, Microsuck wants to force you to "update" (give them free hands to mess with your computer as they see fit). There are two workarounds to this: 1. Change to Linux 2. Use an LTSC version of Windows The LTSC version of Windows is what Windows should have been. It doesn't update automatically, and a lot of crapware has been cut out. The only small problem with the LTSC version, is that Microsuck refuses to sell it to you. Only big corporations can get it. So you have to steal it. Easy enough to do. My system runs LTSC 2019 right now, the next version will come out in 2022 I think, I'll see if I need to update at that time. Stable and trouble-free Windows exists. It's just not meant for the plebs. |
