The sign of Jonah was that Jonah was supposed to die, you know, because he got swallowed by a whale, and you would expect one to die.

Yet he lived.

Jesus said that his miracle would be like that of Jonah, except he would spend three days and three nights in the earth.

And did not die.

Just like Jonah.

Jesus miracle was that he lived.

He survived.

ok and what does this prove?

Jesus' resurrection three days after death itself is the Sign of Jonah.

It defies common sense and waters down the monumental and epic sacrifice and miracle of Jesus' resurrection to argue that the Sign of Jonah is a later astronomical alignment or literal repeat of a man being swallowed and spit out by a great fish, I think.

Jonah or Jonas Ben-Amittai is a prophet in the He6revv Bible from Gath-hepher of the northern kingdom of Israel in about the 8th century BCE. When I would go saltwater fishing in my kayak years ago I had this secret fear that a whale would surface beneath me or swallow me. This story isn't helping...

Yep, the moon eclipsed the sun. Just like the Bible said it would.

There will be no other sign given except Jesus' own death and resurrection which echoes Jonah's experience. He said this Himself. So then if people are looking for other signs, doesn't it demonstrate a lack of understanding of the Master's words?

God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

He gives signs to those with eyes to see.

God spoke to Jonah, God had an important job for him to do.

Jonah didn't want to listen to God, and much like Adam he thought he could run and hide. You can read about the rest in the bible.

i hope and pray this story is true, , i do know that god does indeed give us signs, we shall not live in fear, nor false doctrines of men, aka. the so called christin churches, they are a complete abomination to him, there is no pre trib. rapture, i hope you understand that, i hope you do know of the technology out there , , i hope you got rid of all false doctrines of these churches, long ago, for miracles, are indeed real, god is drawing many , we have to just ask god to show us the many, many lies of religiuos, churches, so that we be closer to him, his word, and understand , that we be not decieved, its never been an easy road, it will never be an easy road, we have hard times comin up, till he returns, we will be here. but he has already overcome the world, thank you for this very good post. there have been many eclipeses, , and they do strange things in the skys playing god, dont look for blood moons, and all the wierd stuff, he gave already his word, get rid of church dogmas.

The sign of Jonah was fulfilled when Jesus rose from sheol on the third day.
