What about the two wires that monitor the unit, that you can override the compressor? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80423642 The compressor is cycling. But it's acting like it's over pressuring even though I'm only showing a max of 190. The pop-off valve is definitely engaging. To ignore tyranny is to give it medium to thrive! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80479776 ![]() 06/12/2021 11:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You can search how much refrigerant is required for the specific vehicle. Its usually printed on a label under the hood. General rule of thumb here... 40 on the low, 250 on the high. This is in summertime heat with the engine hot. Charge with recommended amount. Test drive and check pressures. Add small amounts until you reach the desired cooling. Sounds like you overfilled. Fix the leak before you even try to charge with the correct amount. You can damage the compressor by overfilling |

If your reading your high side pressure AFTER the condenser you could have a clogged condenser coil from metal from the previous compressor failure. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72022675 The pop off will likely open in more of the 300 psi range I'm with this dude. All the oil coming out initially was probably from the grenaded compressor. Grab a new condenser |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79104722 ![]() 06/13/2021 12:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer LT EXT with front and rear a/c. The last owner said he replaced the compressor, condensor, canister and evaporator in the front. They all look pretty new. Orifice and expansion valve as well. It hasn't worked right since I bought it about 8 months ago. The weather has been tolerable up until now so it's issues are showing. It does have a very slow leak and I do plan on fixing that part soon but here is the issue I'm having: Quoting: ZOOM OUT At first I was getting all kinds of oil in the line on the high side so I drained the compressor of oil and started over with the right amount of oil. Put a good vacuum on it for a few hours and proceeded to fill with r134a. Took six 12oz cans to get it up to 180psi. The air coming out of the vents is only 75 degrees at coldest, which is only 10 degrees cooler than ambient temp. When revving the engine the compressor is blowing the pop-off valve like it's building too much pressure. The high side cuts out at around 190 and cuts back in about 170. I am using a set of Yellow Jacket gauges on a Yellow Jacket manifold which have been calibrated within the last month. I've been turning wrenches for over 35 years but a/c work is not one of my strong suits. Any ideas what the hell is going on with this thing? how's the fan situation? electric fan or fan clutch? if all that is working well it's possible either the compressor was over or under filled with oil if that's the case you will need to drain system entirely, remove compressor drain it of oil and manually fill to spec, which is typically around 4 oz but check online for the exact spec there's also the question of how much oil was manually poured into the dryer and condenser, and was it the correct oil |
