Indeed. Low side pressure should be 25-55 psi. You should be aiming for the low end at idle.

Stick something in the schrader valve and bleed some pressure off until the compressor stays running. Then check for temperature drop at the center dash.

If it's losing gas it's leaking somewhere.

Low side line(the bigger one) should be "beer can cold" and developing sweat over 25% humidity. The condenser coils should be evenly cold without ice.
