1970 Documentary: Hillbilly says we have a lot to learn from the colored people.
From "The Mountain People" 1970 video describes the true meaning of poverty in Southern Appalachia.

This whole video is good but this one segment stuck out to me.

" I feel that the white people have learned more in the past few years from the colored people than they ever learned in the past two or three hundred years. That the black people have proven to the world that a man has to fight for his freedom. A lot of people don't believe in violence. I don't believe in violence unless it's necessary. The government, they say they don't believe in violence but if necessary they will declare a war against another country so that's the same thing if they are fighting for the freedom of the country. So the man, the poor man is going to have to fight for his freedom."

I set the timer at 18:25 which is about a minute before the man starts speaking.

What strikes me about this statement is how it is politically correct from both sides.

On one hand the liberal hive mind commie CRT BLM is trying to divide us through racial animosity.

On the other hand we have people on GLP saying 16% joggers cause 50% of crime.

Totally polarized, divide and conquer.

While back in 1970 you can have a hillbilly just saying "let's learn a lesson from the coloreds. Most we whites learned in 200 years."

It just has an innocent insightful power 51 years ago. Hard to find a platform that will accept this kind of iconoclasm.

what I meant to say is it's politically INCORRECT from both sides and a source of cognitive dissonance to have this hillbilly telling us he learn from the colored about how to fight for freedom.

The poor need to fight for their freedom.

Everyone under the 1% needs to fight for their freedom.

That's the lesson this man gets... I just find it raw and a source of inspiration because it shows us how much brainwashing is going on both sides.

Do you want to be a free man? Or do you want to be a slave?

Doesn't matter if you're black or white or brown.

If you want to be free, you're with me.

Re: 1970 Documentary: Hillbilly says we have a lot to learn from the colored people.
Given that Hillbillies descend from the lowly Scots-Irish who were mass executed, starved and booted out of the United Kingdom by Royalists...

I'd venture to say the poor white and ALL blacks are in the same damned boats.

The only job an Irish or Scots-Irishman could get fresh off the boats in the 1600s-1800s was that of a plantation overseer. No chance to rise up the ranks of white society.

Until the enslaved were freed and the white ethnics were no longer "nonwhites" and unionized to disenfranchise black skilled labor men.

My how the mighty have fallen...chickens coming home to roost. White people can't afford to buy homes anymore either...they will rent with the rest of the 99%.

Black people are not people of colour as they have no blue eye, red hair, blond hair, just show me a green eyed black person.

Black peep are black which is not a wasist thought.

People of colour are people with variation.
