American Airlines canceled flights though July...possibly further into the future

Is this due to possible blood clot danger for the flight crew?

Probably both.

Also remember the rumors people have been saying for months now, that the airline industry would shut down sometime in the summer.

They laid off a bunch of pilots then had to shuffle folks around, new type ratings etc. Then when calling back pilots off furlough, they’ll need to re type some of them to different airplanes. This is a huge delay.

Airport staff are low and mostly causing to the late and cancelled flights.

I know a few pilots. This is IMO.

What are the odds other airlines follow suit? My guess is this can't be an isolated event, even if just to get pilots re-qualified after furlough.

This was my first reaction as well. Rumors of flight crews getting clots while in air. Makes one wonder what we are in for.

That does not make sense. Cancel flights due to high demand? You would increase flights due to high demand, not cancel them.

Most likely is workers not available. Recently Biden said if you find a job and don't take it, you're unemployment will be cancelled.

One non conspiracy answer is a lot of pilots left to go drive big rigs when covid shut everything down. Not sure how many were lost overall.


Pilot pay is shit untill you get ti the big jets and it is still a lot less than lets say 15 years ago.

Then why are the trains, buses and trucks still running?
