I see a civilization that has inherited the Earth not getting along and killing one another.

Option one: Call in the cavalry and put everyone out of their damn misery and when finished use earth as an ocean front get away vacation spot.

Option two: Turn around leave and come back after the super nova has wiped the slate clean. (Would save us Aliens tremendous amount of resources)

Really not much for an Alien to do at this point people.
