There was no mention of there being a thunderstorm at the time the video was being recorded nor could thunder be heard. Also, too close to earth to be sprites.

Its from refinaries, when they clean chimneys they produce huge flames and they make this effect, i witnessed this here in holland last year.

Nope, sprites have to do with thunderstorms and last only as long as a lightning flash.

UMmmm...these soldiers aren't dumb shits and there was an officer there. Don't you think they'd know if there were oil refineries in the area and at least consider that idea?

Take a look at the primary. There is a very bright light, then a streak of dimmer light shines vertically upward and another streak shines downward. I'd say the point of origin is most likely to be dead center of the location where the brightest portion of the light is seen. I vote that whatever is causing the light can be found in the 'core' we see, which I feel is likely to be within our atmosphere.

Seems to be too high up to be oil refineries, and that many burning the stacks at the same time, and within that close of proximity? I don't buy it. Besides, those guys have likely been in Iraq long enough and in that area long enough to be aware of oil refineries cleaning the stacks.

I didn't think Sprites lasted long either.

I don't know what they are, but they give me a sense that something big and beyond our control is about to happen in Iraq.

Standard high-speed video can record sprites at 1,000 frames per second (fps), or about 16 times faster than a standard camcorder. But sprites are so transient that they last for only a few frames of even that film, hiding any clues as to how they form.

Someone mentioned in the replies on that youtube vid, that it could be light pillars.....

There are even needed light sources for this effect, very far away on the horizont, but guys were holding the camera too up to see this proof longer.

In the picture i posted, is the source also a light comming from a workplace behind trees. Cause it was checked then.

whoah dude!! awesome. i thought i heard someone say there were 7 of them. very interesting. and the red haze, and line, or whatever, people have been seeing that alot lately. sure alot of strange up there now. hi to all the guys in the video who witnessed this!

Here in Ohio, we have high wispy clouds with rainbow colors around the sun.

Very interesting, whatever they are. Fifty years of sky watching and I've never seen one.

Search lights on the ground pointing up in the sky. I can go out in my back yard at night and see the same damn thing from Universal studios in Orlando. The visible effect will change depending on the clouds and atmospheric conditions.
