HOLY SHIT!!! NOVEL coronavirus!! And everyone thought they meant "new"!
I just realised this. At the beginning they kept saying "novel coronavirus" like a mantra. Everyone thought they mean novel as NEW.

Actually they are spewing it right in our faces, FFS!!! It's so fuckin' obvious that no one NOTICED!!!

NOVEL

A novel is a relatively long work of narrative fiction, typically written in prose and published as a book

Look I am not one who believes this jab is a good thing.
But they are clearly using the adjective form , not the noun.
You do realize words often have multiple definitions

That's why it's called 'spelling'.

Like 'entrance' at a shop's front door.

To entrance is to control someone's attention.

Novel adjective... something new, previously unknown

Novel noun.... a long written story told in narration or various persons point of view

My quick definitions maybe not perfect . I hope you get the point

You do know the human language is relatively younger than the actual species of humans right?
You do realize that words, dang near all of them in all languages share different meanings and contexts based upon usage?

What you and others in this thread is doing is formulating a conspiracy theory with no basis or evidence of an conspiracy. Just your misinterpreted understanding of the word Novel which btw the author of this thread doesn’t even know the meaning of.

OP said Novel = a story or fictional work.
And yes that is 1 definition and meaning of the word
But when Novel is used in a sentence that precedes Virus it does not mean a story or New virus it means a virus never before recorded by man.

You all anger me with these troll posts

No what I implied( clearly you missed the implication) is that by the CONTEXT we should easily be able discern the adjective form is intended.

Your point is incorrect
Novel does not mean new when used in conjunction of the word “virus”
A “Novel Virus” = a virus never before recorded by man.

Never before recorded is Not the same as New
