They'll end up in handcuffs on the house floor. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74719196 That sounds a lot like insurrection/treason to me. With whatever system we set up after this one finishes crashing we need to make sure that POLITICIANS and government employees are held to something similar to the military UCMJ. Dereliction of duty, fraud, insider trading, treason, and a number of other things need to be punishable by death. Not enacting something like this when the united states government came into existence the first time is why we are in the situation we're in. Our leaders and those who work for the government must have skin in the game in the form of very real straightforward quick and iron clad consequences for their actions. roguetechie |

They did the same thing in 2003 for 33 days. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73158163 You know, it would be a shame if someone figured out which airports the various planes they intend to use to flee with are located at and those airports suddenly got flooded with bomb threats and etc... A real shame I tell you! What's an even greater shame though is that the Texas rangers etc aren't already parked crossways in front of hangar doors and on runways STOPPING THEM from fleeing in the first place! We give our state federal and local governments a portion of our incomes and allow them to tell us what we can and can't do with the unspoken deal/understanding that in return they will do their jobs and protect our interests. If they're not doing that and we even have to hypothetically speak about how we can risk our lives and freedoms in the process of doing their jobs for them with them firmly opposing us at every stage... Why do we still consent to be governed by them? This article brings up all sorts of troubling questions people should be asking themselves and I sincerely hope people are asking those questions! Why should any of us have to risk our freedom etc to try to put a stop to this? Why are we ok with letting the people who represent us protect the people who are breaking the law? The whole thing is troubling roguetechie |

There is no way to find out which ones because private flights do not have to publish passenger info. |

Under the Texas Constitution, the lawmakers risk arrest by fleeing town during a special legislative session. The new bills, House Bill 3 and Senate Bill 1 will add new ID requirements for mail-in voting and ban some early voting – floor votes on both bill were expected to take place this week, but Democrats are fleeing in private jets to block the measures. NBC News reported: With Republican-backed voting bills moving rapidly through a special session of the state Legislature, Texas Democrats are planning to make a break for it — again. At least 58 Democratic members of the state House of Representatives are expected to bolt from Austin on Monday in an effort to block the measures from advancing, a source familiar with the plans told NBC News. The unusual move, akin to what Democrats did in 2003, would paralyze the chamber, stopping business until the lawmakers return to town or the session ends. The lawmakers risk arrest in taking flight. Under the Texas Constitution, the Legislature requires a quorum of two-thirds of lawmakers be present to conduct state business in either chamber. Absent lawmakers can be legally compelled to return to the Capitol, and the source said Democrats expect state Republicans to ask the Department of Public Safety to track them down. To block the currently pending legislation, the Democratic lawmakers would have to remain away through the end of the special session, which can last as many as 30 days under the state’s constitution. Chalk it up to a win. Make it law w/out them. A epiphany I had watering my lawn one day. "Karma is the universal judicial system that NOBODY is Immune from" -Me I LOVE good juicy gossip. Texas should take a page out of Nancy's playbook. Allow remote voting and have a time limit for all representatives to reply by. If they don't vote they chose to abstain. |
